In total, it appears that Cal Spa uses a mass produced assembly line type approach in building their spas. Quality control seems to be low on the food cain for them. The framing wood used appears to be scrap pile stock that is hastley cut, i.e. cut end splinters are still present on all struts. The wood contains cracks and knots. The fastening staples are randomly placed and several actually missed on on my spa, causing several struts to slide off the frame! Their is a lot of electrical gadgets on this spa and one of the main control pannels malfunctioned with in the first week! My dealer had to remove a copy unit off of a floor model becuase Cal Spa took forever to send the replacement part!!!!
The Dura-Max shell was ok, but it is very thin. No where near as strong as the Demention One siding. The spa tub "microban" itself was above average. My spa began developing large cracks in the upper frame support braces all around the top perimeter of the spa. My guess was the weight of the water was too much for the cheep wood and poor bracing.

Pros:
Great sound systems, 4 speaker options. Quiet spa for the amount of pumps Nice main control pannel layout Powerful jets
Cons:
Poor construction materials, frame wood contains cracks and knots. Their use of thin staples to fastin the structure wood together is inferior and loose. Their is no floor pan, the underside of the spa is open and is subjectable to wood rot. Cheep plastic jets nozzles and diverter valves. |
