Got the call today!
« on: December 05, 2006, 03:43:35 pm »
First time post on this forum.

Our dealer just called to say the tub will be in and delivered tomorrow.  We ordered it 11/10 and since then have been on this forum, lurking quite a bit.  While I know the best way to get a quick and then a thorough education on just about anything now a days is to find a good forum for that product. I believe we have found one here although, I have to say, I never expected to find people so passionate about their hot tubs. (I've been reading quite a bit on this forum including the 'dead horse' threads.

Well, we went around to several dealers in the Memphis area and one afternoon I stopped in (alone) to the Sundance dealer.  Of course the Maxxus blew me away but I bet the dealer a dollar that my wife wouldn't even let me look at that one when I brought her in. I really liked the Optima but knew we were still shopping and kept an open mind.

My wife and I continued shopping around and I brought her back to Sundance last. We had seen other quality tubs and some 'more affordable' tubs at other dealers but we both agreed that we liked the Sundance's 800 series the best. We also found the dealer (owner) to be quite friendly and helpful.  At this point we looked at everything in the 800 series except the Maxxus.  I wasn't surprised at all.  Looked like I was going to win my bet.  Having never owned a tub before, I didnt know if I wanted a lounge or not.  We sat in the Optima and Cameo (dry) and liked the Optima better. We both wanted to consider a lounge but liked the footwell and the more spacious tub.

As we were leaving the store I suggested she look at the Maxxus and she agreed it was a beautiful tub. Having the lounge and footwell, a lot of space, two lights, two waterfalls, just a really nice tub in general.  When we left we set up an appointment to wet test the following night.  The Optima was nice. We both liked it alot. The arrangement of jets, the footwell. Its really a great tub and we knew we'd love it.  Of course, the Maxxus was up and running so we had to test it. (we were wet testing right after closing and the dealer left us alone in the showroom which was nice because we were able to speak candidly)  We were in the Maxxus for about 15 min or so, checked out all the seats, played with the controls and so on.    I didn't say a word.  I didn't have to.  She loved it.

So, they're delivering our Maxxus tomorrow.  Of course when we agreed on a price I told the dealer to increase it by one dollar.   A bet I really loved losing!!!!

Again, I've read a lot of threads and posts on this forum and I'd like to thank everyone for my quick and continuing education in 'spatopia'.   We're really antsy at this point and are so looking forward to our fist soak Thurs evening.   AND THERES A GAME ON!!!!!  (tub is going right next to our screen room equiped with both audio and video feeds)

Congratulations! You can't go wrong with that spa. I like the way you think. "If your going to do it, you might as well go all out." Happy tubbin' and let us know how things go.

Late Innings,

I only hope you enjoy your Maxxus as much as we do ours.  It's pricy, but man, what a tub.  You won't regret your purchase.  BTW there are a couple other Maxxus owners on this site (myself and galen are the ones I know about for sure.)  What color combination did you go with?

I am looking at the optima, how much more was the maxxius? Also, did you include the ozone, was the ozone worth it. What other brands did you look out and rule out and why. Thanks...

Tileman,   My thinking was, I was into this for close to 10K, for under 2K more I could max this out and never think about it again. ( I've never said, 'I wish I had gone with the smaller,or less expensive one' in my life)

LurkingGal,  Being a bit of a photog, I'm sure I'm going to want to show off a bit. (I've seen pictures of others set ups and I''m in no way going to try to compete. Some folks here have set ups that I can only dream about.)

Garyjr,   We chose the Sahara shell and Sierra cabinet. Being a pool owner, I wanted the lighter shell for the lights and the Sierra cabinet goes the best with our brick and fence stain.

dflearning,  Its hard to say how much more I'm paying on the Maxxus as I didn't haggle on the Optima. My best guess is that the difference is about $1100.00 or $1200.00.  The Ozone is included and being a new tub owner, I dont know if its worth it or not.   We looked at Cal Spas, Hot Springs and Artic.  Reasons we chose Sundance, 1 comfort, 2 quality, 3 dealer     nuff said!

Congrats! You'll always be happier knowing that you bought the tub you fell in love with, and after that first soak, the extra money spent will just feel like a good investment.

Update.

We got the tub last night and it was a real thrill seeing them wheel it across my pool deck. There is plenty of room for the most part on my deck, but passing the screen room was tight.  About 8 feet between the room and the deep end of the pool and the deck slopes sharply in that area for drainage.

Got it all hooked up and filled by about 7p. Water temp at that time was 61degrees.  We checked it every 15 min for about an hour seeing if we could calculate when it would be up to temp.

I got up this morning at about 5:30 and the temp was 99degrees so I woke the wife and we enjoyed a sunrise soak as our first soak in the tub.   I read on this forum that someone else did the exact same thing and all I can say is WOW!  It was incredible! So quiet and peaceful.    We're really going to love this tub.      Really dont know how we lived this long without one....

Even though I had only been reading posts on this forum for about the past month and not asking questions, I got a lot of good information.    Again, I want to say Thanks!
