decking materials

Does anyone have any experience with "Trex" or other composite decking materials? The tub will be on concrete. Just looking for some advice on alternate deck materials.

I used Trex around my spa. Pretty easy to work with, I haven't had any problems.

Willie, ripped out my old deck (only 14 years) last year and replaced it with TREX.  Love it!  I no longer have to worry about walking barefoot or powerwashing and restaining every year, as I had for 14 years.  I would highly recommend it.  And it looks GREAT, too!

I like composite decking; however I don't like trex at all. I've installed it and seen how it wears and I wouldn't recommend it. Take a look at some of the other brands out there..
Check out evergrain. From my experience I’ll tell you it’s a much better product.

If you decide to go with a wood
deck I really like my IPE wood deck.

IPE is a very strong Brazilian wood.

I have Timbertech decking and I like it!

It's tongue and groove and you screw the deck down where you don't see the fasteners.

The one thing I will say is that it isn't maintenece free, but it is lower maintenence. I've had to scrub the deck twice now as it gets really dirty. The good news is a little deck cleaner or maybe bleach and dish detergent and a stiff brush and it comes out as good as new.

I installed a pool this spring and built a huge deck around it this summer. I plan on getting my spa this comming spring. I used Portico brand composite deck and found it very easy to work with. It was about 2/3's the price of Trex.
