OK. It's not like I have forgotten or anything, honest.

But we will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary next Tuesday, and I still haven't found a gift.

I want to give a couple of 'fun' gifts, and then one real nice one that will have my blushing bride melting in my arms.

Any ideas?

I already have thought of a Sliver Caspian for the back yard, but somehow that doesn't strike quite the right note for me.

Considering it is the "Silver Anniversary" something (at least one) should be silver.  Now, I happen to love sterling silver jewelry, but that is me.  Maybe play on a theme, you know, make her a "silver" crown out of aluminum foil and make her "Queen for a Day".  Then move up to a nice sterling silver bracelet, pair of earrings, necklace, ring, etc.  (You will have to give me a little more insight.  I have a couple of ideas, and if you included the right card, or poem, or even a simple love letter, could sure have her melting in your arms.)

How's that for a start?

A fun gift that my wife just loves (not to mention it makes me look pretty ok too) is an all-day certificate to the spa. There are special packages that include all kinds of wonderful things like chocolate wraps and seaweed somethings. Foot massages, facials, all that good stuff!

The point is, she feels pampered to no end. When she comes home she is restored, relaxed and happy.

This is a good thing.  ;D

Oh - and congradulations by the way - that's terrific!

Thanks to one and all.

The Spa Package is a great idea that I wouldn't have thought of. I called and ordered gift certificates. They are on the way via FedEx overnight. Do women like to take friends to these things? I got two just in case, and figured if she takes a friend, or our daughter, she might have more fun. If not, she can just go a second time later on!

I'm going over to Sam's Club tonight to see if I can remember the Platinum bling bling she liked. It's been a couple of weeks, and I don't have a good head for remembering jewelery, but I'll do my best. Paltinum is silver in color, right? I mean, would she object to platinum over silver? I think the thing she liked was Platinum, but I can't seem to do wrong with Silver either...

Also, we are going to borrow a friends house up at Pine Mountain Club. We bought a lot there, but she's not into camping so we are going to borrow our friend's brand-new place three blocks over from our lot. We get the use of the club, of course - tennis, spa, pool, nice bistro, and there are several nice places to eat in the village, so we should have a nice little get-away. I may give the tin-foil tiara and  "Queen for a day" thing a shot while we're away - she's not very demanding, and waiting on her hand and foot is not at all that tough - I enjoy it on a limited basis ;D

Any more ideas? I want her to know that I really love her and that I honor anyone who could put up with me for two and a half decades !  Keep in mind: we work together, and have for twenty of those years.

I thought about suggesting Platinum (yes, silver in color, but oh so much more desirable)!  That will be great as a bauble!

The Spa package, great idea to get 2 cerificates, I bought the spa package for my Mom and sister for the day before my wedding!  Wonderful experience!  *Sigh*  Too bad I haven't had any more!

I don't blame her for not being into camping, my idea of roughing it is the condo on South Padre Island!  LOL!  That sounds like a great get away!

I'll keep thinking...if I come up with anything else, I'll let you know!  Actually, this was really fun!  I still have 19 years to go!

Hmmm..

You seem like a guy who is constantly working and on the go. Maybe a "special" gift certificate for just some "alone" time with you for a quiet resturaunt dinner, walk on the beach, day in the park, etc.?

Sometimes simple love and sharing are the BEST gift you can give because TIME is the most valuable thing anyone "owns"....

Congrats Chas on your 25th anniversary...I have a few years to go before I hit that one (to be exact 16). This Sept will be our 9th year together as hubby and wife. Usually our anniversary consist of going up to the mtn. and hunting for the great wapiti (elk) so, that is the way we like it around here.

Keep it coming! Good stuff.

The "E how" site mentioned silverware. We need it anyway! I think that would be a great gift to add to the pile: I'm going to check around for some new flatware. She went out and bought some recently, but it was real cheap and we decided to just take it back. If I can get some (I know what she likes) soon enough, I will.

Also, thinking of Silver in literal terms: perfection and other things - good good. One small piece of real silver may be all it takes to cover the 'obvious' part, freeing me up to speak more from the heart on the other gifts. This is fun!

Thanks....

You are completely right about that - trouble is, we are very good at taking time together already. We have a 'date night' twice a month, and keep in mind that we work together.

But time without the cell phone, knowing that the stores won't be calling.... I like that.

Good idea.

How about a Silver Anniversary Reward from Marquis? ;D ;D ;D (You knew I would go there!!)

Honestly though, There is a place in Riverside California called the Mission Inn http://www.missioninn.com where you can book her a day in Kelly's day spa, visit the restaurants and even shop on the boardwalk.

Write an essay on the your life for the past 25 years and have someone put in an antiqued format and bind it nicely with pictures through the years. Then find a silver or platinum cross pendant with some diamonds and the kids birthstones. Something like this....

Finally get some fire and ice roses and mix in some lily’s, some purple heather and even a few daisies (never give just roses…how quaint). Don’t forget the wine (Merlinos none alcoholic in your case) ;)

The cross is just a token….The other things are priceless! 8)

(...I kinda get into this stuff...and yes, I'm straight!)
