Proper Chemicle Method

Well for two years no problems with my ways but lately my tub just isn't right for some reason.    Right around the 2 mth mark my water feels funny, tub walls a little slick.  TDS seems high for that short of time.

What is this method that most people go by and where can I find the details so I can compair what I am doing differently.  I hear of people talking about it all the time but fo the life of me I can't remember the name.

I realize that in most cases the cheapest way to clean up your water/tub is new water. I was just curious as to why my water is only lasting the 2mth mark lately when use/chems etc has not changed.  

The only thing I really do different then the vermont method is I use MPS to shock.  now the MPS I use does have some sanitizer in it.  I really like it but I wonder if I could get away with a by weekly shock.  I may try that.  Or at least test my water to determine if I can get a way with a by weekly shock.

Does anyone else shock by weekend and hows it work for you?

How often are you using the tub, and how many folks are in it?

I kinda go with a 10 bather/use  rule.   one person using the tub every other day or so, then sure 2 weeks works for me.

2 people every day? Once a week.

10 people in one day? Shock the next day.

I run 03 and use dichlor and have good results.  YMMV.

drewstar typically its me using at least every other night and on weekends two of us at least one night.

Maybe its the brand of chemicle I am using.  My Alk is a different MFG, but that is about it.  But I would assume there is not much difference in Alk and PH chems is there?

I'm far from a chem pro Nick, and like you for 2 years no crazy problems. I've stuck with the same chem brand and dist, so  I can't say if that would make a big dif. I don't think the Alk and PH could be significantly different. (Unless the active % is different?) Check the lables.

I assume the clarity is fine?

You know, they say the 03 doens't last much longer the 2 yrs, but I would think you'd see a clarity issue if that started to die on you.

I'd dump and run. Maybe a one time fluke?

As far as shocking, with your use, I'd move it out to 10 days or so and see what happens.

According to Vermonter, MPS has NO sanitizer in it.

I did not know that. :-? I wonder if they put enough in it to actually get a "shock". Or is it just a normal dose? I'd like to learn a little more about that "enhanced shock".
