how often do you add water?
« on: August 27, 2006, 03:22:12 pm »
Since we're new tub owners, one of my questions is how often do you add water to your tub?  The obvious answer is: "as needed", but I add water at least every two weeks, sometimes once a week, depending on how much the kids splished and splashed in the dang thing  ;)   So, after I add water I usually do the weekly shock and stain and scale treatment.  Is there anything else I should be adding at that time, or maybe not add anything?  BTW, it's only a 225 gallong tub.

At least once a week or more often depending upon how many times I have to splash one of our cats to run'em off the tub when we're soaking.  Cat hair in the filter doesn't set too well with me.  Out of our three cats, only one is either stubborn or stupid enough not to "take a hint"... 8-)

Sounds like you've got a solid system/process going there.

Really depends on usage and the weather outside.  If its sunny and you have the cover off you will get evoration etc.  And splashing or water that comes out when you get out in your suits (if you wear suits).

A few inches is no big deal if its allot then you should worry about a leak.   I typically top mine up when I do my weaking maitenance too.

Make sure you know what's contained in your source water as far as TA and pH properties.
