Author Topic: Testing Strips / Kits (Read 3202 times)

We are new, about one week into our tub.
The dealer started us out with using test strips (3 little pads on a paper strip). So far we have gotten the correct readings with our chemicals for Chlorine, PH, and Alklinity.
The water seems great so far, nice and clear with little to no foam. But, it's only been about a week or so usage.
Our water source is very clear well water with very few minerals, and basicaly no iron or sulfur.
My question is....should we be using a more elaborate test kit, and if so what kind???

There is a post somewhere around page 200 about some Walmart kit people seem to like. I read it today, but there is no way I would find it again without doing a search.

I did a search it is the HTH test kit from Walmart for $14,

My advice to you is to keep things as simple as you can.

If your water stays as nice as you say, then I don't see the need for any elaborate testing. If those strips do the trick for you, keep using them.

I use the liquid test kits, but only because I had trouble reading the results on the strips. If the strips work for you keep using them.

I tend to agree tht if things are working out with the strips, and you're happy, then I wouldn't change.

If you found you were having a problem with your water, properlly used test kit, can give you a better degree of accuracey, and test for more conditions. (although you may then find yourself chasing things, that really, imho were a non issue).

Will continue to use the strips and see how things progress
