It's a fancy smancy interpitation of a Pergola. I think the vaulting framing was ment to give it shape and definition,alluding to the definition and boundries of a roof, but still keep it open. allowing for nature and the open skky to interact with the hot tub experience. It's reminscent of an open Neo-Varnacular style with clever, sublte hints of a Jonh Dobson Victorian flair. or perhaps we could dare to say...influences by Waterhouse? At the very least, it's an intelligent and interesting juxsatpositon of style and framing cast against several influcening architectulx sytles. Bravo.

Either that or he ran out of wood.

maybe they didn't run outta wood OR do that juxtaposition thingy....maybe the tarp blew away and he's too broke to replace it. That's sad.

I think he also ran out of paint...otherwise the top would be painted, too.
