Question on direction of cover lift

Ok, the basics needed: HS Grandee, Glide Rite cover lift.
do I need arm clearance for the lift anywhere but at the end of the tub where the cover will rest? Asking because the deck we just built is slightly larger than the tub, and I'm trying to figure out how centered we'll be able to be, after all is said and done.....Yes, I know I could wait and find out when it's delivered, but I like knowing the basics beforehand.....and dealer closed at 3, so I can't ask them til tomorrow.

I have a Marquis spa and use a 'cover butler' type lifter.  The orientation of the lifter was determined by two factors for me.  One - my spa is a rectangle and the lifter would only fit on one dimension.  Two - I could either have the cover block my view (lift to pool/ outside) or I could have it lift to the rear of the spa.  I chose to lift to the rear of the spa - it makes getting around the spa when it is open a bit of a squeeze - but worth it.

So, FWIW, my answer to your question is - clearance and view may be your deciding considerations.

Morning T-Lady...

I have a Coverlift 1.  The hinges add about 4.5 inches to sides and it takes about 14 inches for cover clearance.

Wow....I FINALLY found (sort of) what I was looking for....I haven't run across this particular lift showing what side clearance is required, but it looks like I can work this in VERY easily......Thanks for your replies, SurgTec and Snowbird!
