Marquis pumps

Oh no - don't tell me that the pumps are bad in 2005 models too!  Yes - this put me in panic mode!  We just got done replacing a number of bad pumps in our 2003 Euphoria.  Our dealer told us that "Marquis had a problem with the pumps and have switched over to another brand".  Marquis replaced the Euphoria with a new 2006 Epic (we did have other problems as well other than the pumps).  

We just had the Epic delivered on Friday and up and running on Saturday.  I would HATE to have to go through the pump thing again on a different spa.  The pumps that we have on the 06 Epic are the  Aqua Flo pumps (MP160).

AquaFlo does buy their motors from a couple of different manufacturers and attaches their pumps.  They just don't happen to use GE motors because they are not known to make good motors.

Quite a few spa manufacturers use AquaFlo.  AquaFlo even makes pumps for HS.

Let them change out those defective pumps.  You'll be better off with the new ones.

Hmmmm.....if HotSpring uses the same pumps as most everyone else, yet, we seem to have relatively few pump failures....what could be the difference?  I have a sneaking suspicion.....nah, couldn't be.

You're right it couldn't be.

Other manufacturers using AquaFlo are not seeing many problems either.

But, I know that's hard for some to believe!

Since many other spa makers use Aquaflow pumps too why would Marquis have all these pumps problems but others don't (to that degree anyway)?

i have not ran around my shop looking in all the cabnits, but i have not had a problem with any of our pump.

maybe they got "a good price" for a supplier??? see what those deals get ya

Meriflower...I feel your pain.  I am not liking that I'm having ANY problems with my hot-tub.  I understand things WEAR out but 6 months out?  I don't like it.

Like I told Bonibelle...I will be bending the tech's ear on Friday.

I'm gonna be real nice until I hear something I don't like.  Actually, to be fair, my dealer is taking care of it so I'll give the benefit of the doubt until....

Strange thing is that today and tonight when we soaked everything worked fine.

I hate to step on another's dealers toes....bottom line is we have not had an issue with pump failures....I think the GE were a isolated situation .....we have not received any spas with GE motors....

And Cappy didn't say her pumps were failing. Apparently Marquis has isolated the problem and is offering the solution. My Toyota Sienna was recalled several times and the radiator was replaced over and over...who knows why but they apparently had a run on bad parts from one manufacturer and just decided it was better to replace rather than wait and risk more problems. I appreciate a proactive approach

Your equipment is covered by a 5 year warranty.  A pump is mechanical, although it is not designed to fail, a small amount of them do.  I wouldn't be too worried.
