Tall tubfellas
« on: March 04, 2006, 08:52:48 pm »
Earlier this cold, but lovely evening I had a bath in a neighbours tub - a Sundance Maxxus from 2002.
This was the second time I was in it. Last time everything was peachy, but since I started reading this site ( :o ) I was a lot more critical.

The tub didn't fit me at all! There was not one single place that I really enjoyed - I was too tall for all of them.
Best place was actually on the floor between the two longers where I could get my shoulders underwater.

The wet test now really starts to make sense. OK, it did before as well.  :P

I've been looking to buy the Caldera Geneva, I've read that it's good for tall people. I am 6ī4" (or was it 6"4ī) - 194 centimeters. Anyone on this forum of my size that can share experiences of wet tests of Geneve - or others?

I'm also 6'4. I have a long torso, so a lot of spas did not fit me. I wet tested the HS Vista and Vanguard.  I was too tall for the neck jets to hit me correctly. The only spa that fit me was the Dimension 1 Diplomat, which I bought. It has a Neck Flex thing that is adjustable. It had 2 seats, one a lounger, that fit me an one lounger that fit my wife who is only 5'4".
If I could just chew through these restraints...

The HS Grandee is also a pretty deep tub..... 38" deep (is that 95 cm?).....I'm about 5'8 and feel that it's almost TOO deep, but my husband is 6'3, so it should work GREAT for him. (no we didn't wet test)

I would suggest taking a look at the arctic spas tundra model.  It is 923/4" x 923/4" x 38 3/4" .  This is a very deep tub and I find that the reclined captains chair affords even the tallest of people a deep comfortable fit.

The nex maxxus design from 2005 is very deep now.  here are the dimensions 7'6" x 9'2" x 41.5"

Caldera Geneva 7' 5" x 7' 5" x 38"
hotspring Grandee 8' 4" x 7' 7" x 38"

here is the arctic tundra

I am far from tall, but my boyfriend (5'10") and I (5'4") found the LA spas universally TOO DEEP for us. We loved the price point, the massage and the dealer was a good guy, but we both wished we were taller. (I dont wish that anymore, as I found an AWESOME alternative) ;D

Karl... I can't remember where you are in Europe but are all the big tub manufacturers over there?

I'm in Sweden.
Most of them are, I think. The spa market is really picking up here. I havenīt seen Marquis around but I bet someone sells them too.

Karl,
At 6'4", I would look for a 38" deep spa, anything less and you'll probably find your shoulders out of the water too much.
220, 221, whatever it takes!

Hi there - dh is 6'2" and he is happy in our HS Grandee. Also, one of the guys at work is tall - I think about 6'3" and he is also happy in his Grandee.  I agree with the 38"+ tubs for you - apart from the Grandee and the others mentioned here I believe that most tubs made in Canada are that deep, Like Hydro Spa and Beachcomber...

Good luck!

I'm 6'7" and my Jacuzzi 385 is a little too shallow for me (38" deep).  My wife is 5'4" and uses one of those pillow things or sits on the edge of the seat.

The new Jacuzzi 400 series claims to be 44" deep.  My guess is that is measured from the lowest point (the floor) to the rim so that doesn't mean the seats themselves are any deeper.

from 2002 to 2005 Sundance must have changed the Maxxus because I just got a 2005. I am 6'-4" and I couldn't begin to be any happier with it. It is 42" deep and should be perfect for you. just my 2 cents but I would look at a new one.

It is important to wet test or at least sit in the spa you are considering....As far as I know only Marquis lists both the interior depth of their spas as well as the extriour....I mention this only because the outer dimensions of the spa mean very little when compared to how deep they actually will sit as it was discovered several months back when this debate was brought up and it was discovered that the Marquis sat as deep as any of the 38' spas that were mentioned....this is not a post intended to promote Marquis it is just that as far as I know no one but them lists interior depth of their spas......

I agree... the 2005 Maxxus is a big man's tub.
Many professional sports facilities have them in their locker rooms.
