Hmmm... Weird Thing Since Water Change
« on: February 05, 2006, 08:30:00 pm »
Ok, so I changed the water last Wednesday.  I noticed something different immediately, I just thought it might change and it hasn't.

Terminator may be the only one to understand my technical jargin... but anyone is welcome to try.   ;)

RE:  the thingymajig in the bottom the looks like a noodle strainer where heat comes out when the heater is on and the rest of the time bubbles come out

BWC: bubbles were little and like soda fizz

AWC:  bubbles are big and airy and make bubble noise, no soda fizz

Whatcha think is going on?

Seriously?  I thought maybe my ozone wasn't working or it wasn't working before, but is working now?  Guess I'm overthinking things.

Thanks.   :)

I thought the same as you on my first water change, but since I've changed my water too many times in the 7 months that I've owned the tub, I'm used to it now.

In about a week they'll go from large bubbles to fizzie type. Even the air from the jets are different and will change.

Part of the joy of fresh water is the big bubbles, I don't care for the fizzy bubbles but they always show up. When you have the "regular" bubbles, the water clears instantly when I turn the air off, with the fizzies it takes a few seconds to clear. When it starts taking a long time, I know it's time for a water change.

Well Vinny, you were absolutely right.  One week to the day of my water change and I have the old fizz is back.  It is also the same day that I added MPS for the first time... don't know if it is related or not.

I agree LtDan, the water seemed 'fresher' with the non fuzz type of bubbles.

I do have a question... my water was crystal clear beautiful until I let the kids in it.  I had washed all of our suits (but DH and I have been going sans) without detergent... then the 3 of us went in with suits on.  The next day their were little tiny bubble residue film on the top of the water.  I ran the clean cycle and when I checked back the water looked fine.  This morning I checked and that film stuff is back.  Should I risk getting foam by putting in the clairifer I have or should I try using a skimmer net and see if I can get it off the top.  All my levels are perfect and the water isn't cloudy it just has this residue on top.  Any ideas?

I believe what your seeing is body oils showing up as film.

You can put some extra dichlor (I forget if you use it) or you can try enzymes or eventually the "standard" dose of sanitizer and shock will eat it up.

My opinion would be to try enzymes or if using dichlor add some extra. I don't know if MPS would do anything. If you put the air on and the film foams then scooping it out would work great.

If you do try enzymes, try to stay away from the "Spa Perfect" brand if you can. It seems to me that it has it's own foam thing going on. I started using it and it does do a good job in the long run but the initial day or two after adding it seems to foam.

You know,

The Blenny.

Little fish that lives under the return air cap. As he tries to get out, the motion of his little fins breaks up the bubbles.

Sometimes they die young.

Try Spa Perfect, or have your dealer add a second air check valve.

Uh...ok.  Had you said Marlin, Dorrie or Nemo I may have followed a little better.  Or maybe not.

I don't have a dealer as I didn't buy my spa new.  When I start running out of chemicals I'll try some Spa Perfect from doc.
