Here's the verdict!
« on: December 14, 2005, 04:38:23 pm »
Ok I absolutely adore my new doc!! She is very professional...doesn't beat around the bush and doesn't use alot of medical jargon! So...........everyone is probably wondering what we are doing with my back...well....I'm back on MS Contin, and they added a muscle relaxer to my regimin...as soon as we get my pain sort of stablized we are going to start some mind and body therapy with her psych and some water therapy.  I have an appt in April with another pain specialist which this guy is the BEST in the U.S. for another eval to see if we can talk work comp into doing the Dorsal Stimulator.

So gang this is what we are doing. On a sad note....I'm not allowed to go into my hot tub alone per my doc's orders since the medication is pretty stout....so my hot tubbing time is now down to 2x per day  :'(  :( which makes me SOOOOO sad but..I guess it's for my own good.

Ohhhh and another thing...you know how I've been really insistant on how I am sticking with Bromine? Well....seems hubby and I have developed a allergic reaction to the bromine and have decided to switch to something different, what it will be I have NO idea! So..that's that.

On a brighter note.....(giggling here) there is NO brighter note...I'm stoned out of my gourd, having alot of pain and to top it off.....I'm ALLERGIC and have a rash that looks like excema all over my arms and legs  :( Bad day....bad week....and bad YEAR!

Post more later!

Love you all

Gosh...don't know what to say.  I know you are in some heavy pain to be taking MS Contin.

Is your pain primarily from your back?  What is the dorsal stimulator?

Really sorry to hear about all your problems.  I hope the new treatments you're undergoing will help.

Backpains,

Sorry to read about your back problem. I never realized how much ones back can cause such problems until it happened to me. However mine can not hold a candle to your backpains if your on contin.

I have been using a product called Softsoak in my spa since day one. We have never had a skin problem with this product. Or really any problem. And never had any guest say anything negative about this product. We were told by our dealer that we can not buy a less sensitive product.

My wife has extremely sensitive skin. So sensitive that we would not have purchased a spa without the dealer letting us wet test not only the spa but the chemical.

Our dealer lived by our request and a year and a half later we are all still friends and 1000% satisfied with the complete experience.

I'm back on MS Contin,

Microsoft is in the Meds busines now?  ;)

Sorry to hear things aren't going well for you right now.

I had the itchy bromine rash as well in my old tub, it drove me up the freakin' wall.  Any concerns going with dichlor?

Take care.

Ok lots to get to here so here we go.....cappy yes it's primarly in my back and I get sharp shooting pains down both legs. A dorsal stimulator is a little machine that they put in the back and hook it to whereever the nerve is hurting then it blocks the pain with a electrical impulse. It's said to cut pain by 50%, with it I'll never be "Pain Free" but I'll be able to manage my pain better.

aahhhh: I'll look into that I think it is time to change to something different!

Drew: You are now up to speed Microsoft just opened a Pharamacy! hahahahahaha

Softsoak is just as harsh.  Hydrogen Peroxide.  Best to just try chlorine/bromine first, then biguanide if all else fails.

Oh and also the likelyhood of an allergy to chlorine or bromine is almost nonexistant.  People are however, susceptible to skin irritation from chlorine or bromine or any chemical.  Best bet is too make sure levels are not too high or too low.  Take a shower after you use the spa and don't continue to reuse your bathing suit (if you wear one at all  :o)

I do not find Softsoak hars at all. With my Ozonater cycle set higher I use 2 oz of shock a week mixed with 400 gallons of water. And some weeks I don't add shock at all. Per water test done by my dealer.

I only have water tested by my dealer. I don't bother with test strips. They just get me in trouble. Lucky for me my dealer is 3 miles away.

i have a problem in my back that has been going on for a few years. i have tried a lot of things. i have found that the best treatment for me is this: once a year i get a procedure done called a radio freq nerve ablation. it takes about an hour and you stay awake durring it. it is a painfull a bit but gives me months of pain free than i start taking progressively more painkillers until the next time. i have been doing it for four years now and it works well. it costs about 3 grand i think for the whole visit. it allows me to be without any meds for most of the year.

I too have a screwed up back. Fortunately,at this time,it's only going down 1 leg.

I too was prescribed oxy-cotin....and my wife (who's a nurse) had me throw them away. I guess you can get addicted to those very easily.

Now and then I'll take a loratab, but try to stay away from em if I can as they make me goofy and sleepy.

In my case, the hot-tub doesn't really help my back. For me,the best thing that has helped is ice....and about every 6 months I get a cortazone injection in my back. The first 2 weeks after,I feel like I'm 20 years old again lol.

Try to avoid using pills Backpains!  My step-daughter got hooked to em,and at 1 point she was shooting up heroin(for over a year).  We thought 1 day we would get a call saying, she was dead etc.  She's now clean for almost 2 years.....and 2 months ago, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.

In either event Backpains,I wish you luck and happiness.
Possibly a cortazone shot will help you too?

I THINK RUSH LIMBAUGH GOT HOOKED ON OXY CONTIN.

I ALSO HAVE A FRIEND THAT GOT HOOKED ON IT.
AFTER SHE WAS TAKEN OFF IT IT SHE WAS BREAKING INTO PEOPLES HOMES TO GO THROUGH THE MED CABINEST FOR ANYTHING.  SHE ACTUALLY SPENT SOME TIME IN REHAB AND JAIL.  SHE IS NOT THE TYPE OF PERSON WHOM WOULD DO THIS.

autoplay and ahhhh......It's not like want nor do i desire to take these meds. I have no choice my pain is to severe it makes me cry it's so bad. We've tried cortizone shots and nerve shots and what they call facet joint injections none of these helped so until work comp decides that I can go for the Dorsal Stimulator this is my only choice. I've tried going without for a bit longer than what i'm suppose to and my husband had to actually help me to the bathroom because I could barely walk. I alternate ice with the heat of the hot tub and that helps a tiny bit. Dealing with it the best I can all!
