Question about nature 2  mineral stick
« on: December 05, 2005, 03:20:51 pm »
Hi I bought a nature 2 mineral stick to try. The instructions say you have to add 1 1/2 tlbs mps before each soak for a 450 gal spa. That seems like the tds would raised in a hurry with that much mps at each soak. Is the mps needed every soak or can I use it for shocks only. I currently use dichlor 1tsp per person after soak and 3 tlbs for shock every 10 or so days. Thanks!!

I use Nature 2 with dichlor along the same lines you are.  I  never bother with MPS.

The nature 2 is supposed to minimize the amount of chemicals you need. I would keep using your dichlor each use and just use the mps for a shock.

at our store, we sell alot of nature 2 sticks. and inform the customers that it helps cut down on chlorine consumption. I would continue to use the dichlor after each use as you are already doing and shock once a week!!! Good Tubbin!

Hi Bill and rotigers, Do you and your customers notice a big difference with n2? I also have ozone. I will put the n2 in and try it. I just did a water change 2 weeks ago and wanted to try it then but the instructions made me hold off until I could get some professional feedback Thanks for the info.

After lots of reading on the N2 I ordered some from ebay.  It came this weekend, and I put it in my recently filled tub.  I am using dichlor and will not be using mps.  I am using it as a "3rd defense" along with dichlor and ozone in an attempt to avoid the water troubles I had in the recent past, not to reduce chemical costs.  I plan to keep the chlorine around, say 2-3 ppm, not the 0.5 ppm per the website.  I figure a little extra won't hurt anything!

What I meant by reducing chemical cost is that you wont be using as much chemicals, therefore you wont be buying as much chemicals! But there is no problem with having a lil extra on hand for saftey purposes! But YES, Our customers notice a difference in using nature2!

The Nature2 mineral stick is not compatible with bromine, but the Spa Frog by King Technology(ies?) is.  The frog is also distributed by LeisureTime Spa Chemicals as their Mineral Purifier.

jsimo7,

I just noticed that you have an Envoy.  My Envoy came standard with the Nature 2, didn't yours?  If so, you can refer to your owner's manual.  I am not in the tub business, however, so my answers are not those of a "professional" within the context of the spa business, but rather those of a user.  Having said that, the Nature 2 cartridge definitely makes a noticeable difference in water cleanliness, clarity, and the need for dichlor addtions.  I experimented by removing the Nature 2 cartridge from my spa to determine if there was a difference.

Regards,

Bill

Hi Bill,... Mine didnt come with the nature 2 cartridge so I bought one and will try it now. I have been waiting to do my water change before I put it in. I did the change 2 weeks ago, and the store said the n2 cartridge required mps before every soak. I didnt want to add 1 1/2 tlbs mps at every soak so I have held off until I had some imput from the pros on this site. I am putting it in tomorrow. Thanks for the help!!

My dealer told me the same and that's what I have been doing for over a year now.  One film canister of MPS before each use (about 2 tbls) and 3 tbls of dichlor weekly followed by Stain and Scale the next day.  i have had no water problems to speak of despite my very hard water.  I have also gone the full 4 months between water changes.  I highly recommend N2 and ozone.

...or a little dichlor after each use. Either way works though I think the dichlor works better.

I plan to stay with my Dichlor after each soak and a dichlor shock every 10 days or so and use mps every 3rd or 4th shock. I hope that allows the n2 cartridge to do its thing.
