Water Chemisty Question
« on: May 28, 2005, 10:16:06 am »
My pH is high; 8-8.5, and I have been adding a pH reducer (several ounces) but can't seem to get it down. My Alkalinity, however, continues to drop. It started at 160 when I filled the tub, and is now at 130 one week later?

Any idea what would cause my pH to stay high and my TA to drop? If my TA drops, shouldn't the pH drop as well?  Is that possible, or do I need to go out and get a new test kit?

Thanks

continue pH decreaser to bring pH down allowing an hour or more between testing and further adjustments.  When pH is in the proper range, you may well need to increase your alkalinity at that time.  Patience, the process can not be accelerated.
