Spent some time working on this today  :)
Best I could come up with is there's a RETAIL store, holiday hot tubs..

I don't think ANY of those names are now, or ever were, spa manufacturers

careful, you don't want to get bit by the hand that's feeding you  ;)

Crestline is a city or town in Ohio, Alabama, Nevada, California and Kansas........ Amazing what I know eh?

If you can't sell it on eBay, it may not even qualify as landfill.

Retired (mostly) from the industry after 33 years...but still putzing around with a consumer information website, and trying to sell obsolete owners manuals

Excel Wire and cable in Crestline, Ohio never made spas. Now there is a town that rolls up the sidewalks at 8pm.

Nope! but if your referring to http://www.poolandspa.com/page149.htm most of the info on that page is falsified and suspect!

I would challenge their actual research and knowledge level for many things on that page!

My feeling is that they should be shut down for leading consumers astray the way they do!

how do you feel about RECwarehouse? they are building a location near me...I might check them out. They seem to be low end on consumer needs. Any opinion on them?

So getting back to the question at hand...  ;)
Stuart is onto me here I see... ;D.

This originates from the Pool & Spa website that lists "Best of Class" spa rating and such. I was surprised to see a section called "refused" as I've never noticed it or it has never been there before.

I have never heard of these manufacturers and figured the pros here might if they existed. My guess was that these were fictitious as well but I wanted to find out for sure.

For those unaware, this site rates spa companies and categorizes them into groups. The criteria used is unclear to me and the details of what constitutes a top rating.

My questions to dealers are;

If your manufacturer is listed on "Best Of Class", do you promote this in any way? Why..Why not?

On a scale of 1-10, do you feel this has the ability to persuade a consumer into your product knowing you have the best rating?

What percentage of consumers that see this site do you think believe it is credible?

My questions to the consumers that read this are;

If it came down to 3 products and you were aware of this rating site, would it sway your purchase in any way if only one was best of class?

How much credibility do you put into this rating site on a scale of 1-10?

Answer honestly as if you went there first and saw it prior to going to any other site.

Thanks,

Steve

At first visit I'd rate them about a 5. Those ratings did make me consider the "best of class" worth looking into, I remember actually calling Adventure spas way back when because of it  :-/

By the time it came down to 3 products I was long-time aware of the the rating site and had re-rated its creadibility a 0.

I am aware of the role that advertising dollars plays on websites; the more I surfed the site the more I found a correlation between "class" and advertising.

As I learned more about today's hot tubs I came to find that many of the "best of class" were relatively unknown manufacturers (no local dealers, mail order only, unknown on forums). Later on, long after I bothered to care about their ratings, I learned more about the reputation of some of their highest class manufacturers such as CalSpa and Adventure Spa on forums.

I looked at their ratings at first!  Shoot, I even bought the magazine!  :D Anyway, after perusing through the manufacters, I realized most weren't in my area.  It did help me with a lot of brands I hadn't heard of before my search, but I gave their rating system a passing glance!

I figured it was advertising dollars that generated those ratings.

The ratings did not change my view of the last 3 I was considering!  Only the wet test was the focus, at that point!

I too bought the magazine. It was the horrible articles in the magazine that made it so obvious the manufacturers pay for exposure in the articles.
