Waiting for my new deck, Dreaming of my BC 750
A complaint about my BC750

Well, on Oct 17, my wife and I proudly took delivery of our Beachcomber 750. To say that we enjoyed it would be an understatement.
But I now have a complaint:
When 100 gallons of liquid propane explodes beside a beachcomber hot tub, it doesn't hold out that well.
I'd expect something that I paid that much money for to hold up better!!
I'd attach pictures but I don't have access to my own computer.
I had a fire at my house on Nov 5.
The deck was on fire, the BBQ exploded, and knocked the main propane line (we heat with LP) off the house as well, dumping almost 100 gallons onto the deck/house.
My tub is now mostly burnt and melted. A sad sight really.
My wife and I were not home at the time. No one was hurt. My dogs were the only animals in the house and they got out OK. The volunteer firemen that responded deserve a huge thanks. A few minutes more and the whole house would have been gone. As it stands, the house was saved, with only smoke damage to most rooms.
As you can maybe tell, my wife and I are in good spirits, with no one hurt, and nothing of sentimental value lost, this is just a thorn in our side for a while.
So the wait for our hottub begins again.

The important thing is that you are safe. Stuff can be replaced, people can't.
On the bright side, you're getting a new spa!
Keep the faith.

I am glad to hear that all beings, human and canine, are safe and well!
Firemen (and women) do a wonderful service for our communities! Glad they saved the house!
So, the dreadful wait begins anew!
As Brewman said, at least you are getting a new tub! Are you going with another Beachcomber?
Maybe you should look at my brand, you know it is better!
(Sorry, couldn't resist!) Good luck!

I'm glad everyone is safe.
As for the tub, it's the main reason I left Beachcomber. They just don't stand up to massive explosions. We had a tornado here a number of years ago and some Beachcomber owners had their tubs damaged by this breeze. Sheeeesh...

I've alway loved volunteer fire departments. I grew up in Wesleyville PA, which had a volunteer force. Whenever the alarm went off, we raced on our stingray bicycles to get to the firehouse, watch everyone roll out. They always put the address on the board for latecomers so we would rush over to see the disaster. I did see alot of good work over the years, neighbors in your small town are definitely motivated to respond quickly and well as the next time it could be them.
Good luck with the insurance, sure hope it isn't Liberty Mutual.!

Thanks for the concern.
Our insurance company is State Farm.
So far they have been really good.
Cleanup is well underway.

So glad God protected you and your animals. It was well said, "stuff can be replaced, people can't." Really glad you're still here to post about it.
Now - let's talk end of the season floor-model clearance sale. I'm thinking a Grandee or Vista might fill the void in your life left by that 750....

glad all are safe. we had a store fire a few yrs back and had like 3 spas got melted that were next to where the fire broke out. It's a weird site to see a shell and plastic cabinet all goobed together.

Hi KC-SWO,
Glad to hear that you family is safe and that your house will be good again. Sad to hear of the death of your Beachcomber however
Maybe an Artic with the aluminum skirting would have held up better (just joking). Good luck getting your place back in order and getting a new spa!

Thanks for the good wishes.
It will be interesting to see the insurance adjusters reaction to a quote for a fully loaded BC750. That ain't no $3000 Home Depot special.

Good to hear everyone is safe including the dogs....about your Beachcomber...I have read on other forums where this is a common problem...they simply have no structural strengh...Saddam used to soak in one but was not at all happy with how it held up to the US military and has plans to contact everyones friend in Colorado.....as he holds a patten on one the does perform under the most stressful of condtions....Phoenix builds it to his most stringent of specs.. that he and some of his "engineering Buddy's "from the local Jr high put together in wood shop.....

The hot tub sales vultures are circling...
Seriously though, I'm glad to hear that you and your family are fine KC! Here's hoping that your insurance settlement comes through quickly and generously. Oh, and by the way, have you considered a D1, Artesian, or Coleman spa?

You guys are incredible...The poor guy just lost his spa in a heartbreaking set of circumstances and all you can think about is talking him into a different replacement spa?
You should all be ashamed of yourselves... :-/
You should all read this
