« on: November 07, 2004, 07:54:25 pm »
I am either getting an optima or a euphoria.  I am wondering what size breaker I need is it a 50 or 60 amp GFI??  Also anyone got any reason I should buy one over the other??  Thanks

Both are good brands and you will happy with either.

The Euphoria takes a 50 amp breaker and I think that the Optima takes a 60?

I am a Marquis dealer and am obviously partial to the brand.  I would choose the Marquis for their warranty.

That said, not all dealers are created equal so do your best to plug the dealer into the equation when making the final decision.

let us know what you decide.

With the Sundance you have the option of either a 50 or 60 amp breaker.  I would go with the 60 if it was my choice, many did on this forum.

I think the marquis warranty is transferrable if you sell the tub to someone else.  Not sure how that benefits you, unless you are buying someone else's tub.

We have the Optima, and are very happ with it.  We didn't look at the Euphoria, so no comment there.
If you live in the snowbelt where it gets really cold for a few months a year, you might want to go with the 60 amp breaker on the Optima.  This allows both pumps to run full blast, and the heater to function at the same time.  In warmer climates it's probably not necessary, as our heater seldom kicks in when the pumps are running, escept when it's really cold out.
The only cost difference in wiring 60 amp vs 50 amp should be the cost of the breaker.  In my case it was actually cheaper for the 60 amp GFI than for that companies 50 amper.

Just bought the Euphoria...Love Love LOVE it!!!  We tested the Optima and we really liked that one as well.  The things that made us choose the Euphoria...in no particular order...
*no pillows (optima only warrantied the pillows for 1 yr)
*built in Spa Frog for sanitizing ease
*transferable warranty
*better feel from the tub
*seemed better made (all parts easily reached, disconnected and replaced)
*spa dealer was friendlier and not from the (SALE SALE SALE) store of the Sundance dealer....you know the stores that have sales every single week?  UGH!
*About $1,000 cheaper for my Euphoria.

Did I tell you how much I love my spa?
I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

No exclussions due to water chemistry problems.

This sets Marquis apart from others.

Transferrable warranty creates greater resale dollars if you should ever want to sell.

HotSpring has a no-fault warranty on the heater - which is the component most likely to fail if you really don't take care of the chemistry.

My euphoria is on a 50 amp breaker and runs both pumps on high speed and the heater with no problem. Love the tub. Did not test the Optima, so can't comment.

D-1 uses the laing fast flo heater.........5 year unconditional warranty, BTW it's the same heater watkins uses  now.

If you're concerned with the electrical, ask your dealers service deptartment what they recomend.  It's what they are there for, to help you their customer.
