MADE THE SWITCH
« on: August 18, 2004, 10:35:48 am »
I finally made the switch from baquaspa to N2 and the water looks great!Never did like the way how the water would get cloudy after putting the Baqua in.

So I have acouple of questions for you guys:
I never had an ozinator installed on my tub[sundance optima]since we were using Baqua.
Should I consider getting an ozinator and can I install it myself or let the dealer whom we bought the tub from do it?
Will the ozinator eat away at the pillows and cover?

Just a note here for Baqua users and others: the Baqua people say that an ozonator is fine with Baqua, however if you read the little daily maint. booklet it clearly says you must test every four days if you have ozone. I will suggest people not install the ozone if they plan on using Baqua. I'll make up the difference in the cost of the Baqua over the next few years anyway, and I want their experience to be easy-care.

I like them for the fact that they are sending ozone into the tub on an ongoing basis, even if you ignore the tub for a week. I also like being able to soak chlorine-free with only a chlorine shock now and then.

The Optima is set to receive the ozone system, so it should be an easy DIY project.

Yes, but not too bad.

how bad is not too bad?????????

If I just have to use alittle more chemicals to keep it clean isn't that better than replacing the cover and pillows in 2-3 years ::)

The Nature2 directions state: The use of an efficent ozone generator with Nature2 may reduce the need for supplemental chemical treatments.

Two years with constant ozone and my pillows still look great.  I scrub them with soap and water and put a good coat of 303 protectant on them once per year.

One of two things are happening then:

Your ozone system is UV and the bulb needs to be replaced, or:

Your ozone system is CD and the chip/chamber needs to be replaced.

Tony, you must have the newer tub with the mixing chamber in it.  If you are also using Nature2, then you won't be using much chlorine.  So, less chance of damage to pillows.

Hi George

I have a 2002 optima and it does have the mixing chamber.  After my first year the pillows and inserts started to look a little faded from either the dichlor or ozone.  I removed them, scrubbed them with a brush in soap and water and gave them a liberal dose of 303.  They came out looking almost new, so now it is part of my yearly maintenance routine.

I have had my issues with ozonator check valves.  I am on my third one in two years.

How are things north of the border?

Things are going great.  We haven't had too many problems with the check valves.  How does the tubing look?  Is it still clear or has it turned brown and hardened up?

Its brown.  I haven't noticed if it has hardened.  Tomorrow is drain and fill day.  I'll have to check.  If it has hardened, should I replace it?
