« on: August 12, 2004, 08:20:30 pm »
Any body experienced any problems with a hot tub regarding high or low blood pressure. I noticed myself when using a hot tub in a hotel i.e. that I get dizzy quite quickly. Should I be concerned about purchasing one? Thanks for your suggestings, patepup,  ???

No one should stay in a very hot tub for long.  If you had your own you can control the temperature!

Dizziness is a common result of soaking too long in water that is too hot. As mentioned, you can set the temp of your own spa for what is right for you.

I have high blood pressure, and the tub actually helps that, but as others have mentioned you can over do it.

When in a tub thats to hot or staying in to long at high temps it is referred to as hyperthermia. Just as dangerous as hypothermia.

First and foremost, consult your doctor before making the purchase. No one here can give you complete information without knowing your medical condition or how a spa might effect that.

That said, can you have a bath? I'm guessing yes, which means that you can own a spa and enjoy the all the benefits without exceeding 98 degrees (body temp). Getting into a spa will tend to initially increase BP but as the heat starts to work, it increases blood flow and lowers BP.

Just a "thank you" to all that responded to my question. I am glad I found this place, I am sure I will be back with more, before I buy, I am eying the Sundance Marin, the local dealer wants $ 7800 but would give us a discount on a floor model. Any comments?  :)

patepup,

$7800 sounds high for the Marin.  Keep negotiating as well as looking/wet testing other tubs.  Good luck!
