bullfrog spa circulation pump
« on: August 31, 2016, 09:53:03 pm »
We will be going to test a Bullfrog spa later in the week.    One of the questions I have, is about the optional circulation pump and if it is needed.  We thought our minds were made up with the HS limelight Flair which has one and is included.

Can someone explain the positives and negatives of this feature?

Thanks

A circulation pump is quieter than the jet pump in the HS. It can also use less energy than a jet pump (in the HS)

You will have to find out if this is true in the BF.

It will also help if you plan on using an ozone system to supplement sanitizer.

It also reduces wear and tear on the jet pump.  I think it's worth the upgrade if it's $400 or less, preferably a little less.

On a Bullfrog, the circ pump also allows filtration without injecting air into the spa, which will help control the pH from rising.  I find it more than worth it to have.

99lasalle,

We're honored you're considering a Bullfrog Spa. The benefits of a circulation pump are just as has been stated. Quieter operation, less wear on the main pump, helps with ozone effectiveness, etc.

I personally have one on my spa and prefer it.

All the best in your shopping,

Jake

Is the ozone included in the "A" or "R" series?

They are options from the factory.  Some dealers build it into their pricing though.

On the advice of my dealer I didn't get a circ pump with my A7.  I don't have anything to compare it to, but my bullfrog has been crystal clear for over a year without it.

A jet pump without a circ pump most likely moves more water across a filter. But again as stated circ pumps are quieter and use less electricity in the case of the HS tubs.
