jacuzzi j345 FL1 error
« on: April 06, 2015, 09:05:12 pm »
hey ladies and gents, my parent hot tub is getting the fl1 error code, cant seem to get rid of it, we have tried resetting the power and leaving it off for a while and what not. the code comes on immediatly when turning the main power on, i have held my hand near the filter whole with the screen to feel for suction and i dont get any unless one of the main pumps is on. the flow switch doesnt seem to move its position (i would call it the open position, no contact is being made from the finger to the solid part.) and i dont think the circ pump is on cant feel anything from it at all. any other test i should do to narrow it down to circ pump or flow switch?
Thanks for your help
Logan

Pretty much answered your own question.   Bad circ pump.   6000-125 Google is your friend..   Unless it's the board...  But doubtful.

Only test I would suggest is confirming that 220v is being sent to the circ pump.

good news, new circ pump is working correctly, bad news still an fl1 code. what do we look at next? flo switch? but im not sure what position its supposed to be in, its just what i would call the open position (not contact being made with the other side)
any ideas is great
thanks in advance

So I replaced the flow switch to no avail but upon closer inspection I think the circ pump is running the wrong way maybe a wrong circ pump. I will get a hold of my hot tub dealer and see which one they gave me could be any of these 3 6500-064 or -066 or -065

Do you see water flowing through the switch with the little flapper thing hitting the post?   If not then something is wrong.

The 6000-125 is for the Laing circ pump, Jacuzzi is now shipping a retro fit pump out because they quit carrying the Laing which might be what your dealer or whomever sold you?   Not sure the part number though.

After reading instructions a few times and finally looking at the diagram(go figure) they changed which side the output to the heater is so I think we put the pump in backwards will try it tomorrow. It looks like the flow switch flapper is going the wrong way when the circ pump is on

Would love to see a photo of what you have, not the spa but the pump and how you have it hooked up.

thats the pump put in the exact same way as the old one was top was output side was input but according to the diagram on this one top is input and side is output so it needs to be swapped around so it pushes water through the heater

Yeah I don't know where that came from, somebody retro fitted a pump in there at some point if that's how the original was.   In 14 years I have never seen a circ pump like that one in a Jacuzzi.    The original pump was/should have been mounted to that painted black psc of 2x4 someone added that extra psc of wood under that pump.   Flip it around though and it should work.

Same issue here on my J345 - here's what I have -

1.  Filters have been cleaned
2.  Recirc pump running with suction at the filter inlet and flow at the outlet (pump seems a bit warm though)
3.  Flow switch is functioning, at least mechanically (flapper is against post when pump is running, falls back when pump not running)

To me, this points to a bad flow switch.  Comments?
