We have an old Cal Spa with a wood cabinet that is completely decomposing & a couple other problems.
We're getting rid of it (too expensive to rehab) and want to replace it with with something for around $5.5K.
We're looking at tubs from a couple local stores, down to a Mermaid Miami Beach and a Celebrity Hollywood (Marquis budget line). Both have some bling (waterfall, LED lights, sound systems), but I don't have the opportunity to wet test. I'm curious what to look at, look for, or look out for in less expensive tubs to see how to compare. The Celebrity is a bit larger, and has 2 pumps versus 1, more jets, but I think Mermaid is better insulated. My old one has had pump problems fairly often, so I wonder if 2 pumps makes it more likely or less likely to have pump problems.
I guess I'm looking for reputable advice on how to compare different models.
Any opinions here on either Mermaid or Celebrity? I haven't seen any discussion here on the Marquis Celebrity line.
