PVC Help!
« on: May 06, 2013, 08:14:08 pm »
So the other day we picked up a free hot tub. Everything works fine except i can't find the right size PVC fitting to attach to the pump.

The PVC on the right must connect to the PVC tube coming into the picture on the left.

This diagram may or may not be for my model haha.

I could not precisely measure this. I think it is 2'' and 15/16.

I would like to know what i need to order or if you have any tips or comments please share!

What is the inside measurement?  Look like 2" if that's what it is you could glue inside with an elbow to the coupling

Throw a pair of channel locks on it and spin it off

You might pick up a street elbow 90* and see if it's a good fits inside then go from there.  Worse case it leaks, best case it works..   You will need to tie into that other pipe which might be difficult, think about bringing that other psc up to meet with the other section, so you can keep the elbows at a minimum.

Tomorrow I will go get a 2" street elbow. When you say I need to tie into the other pipe, what exactly do you mean?

To me the photo of that other psc of pipe looks lower prolly just an illusion but you need to tie into that some how.

So you are saying I just need to connect to it? I think it is supposed to be a little bit higher. I have another question. So the inside of the hole from the pipe is 2" and the other pipe is 3" do they make an adapter?

That's half a union, that's SCREWED in.............just like the OTHER union for the other pipe going into the pump. If you unscrew it and take it into your local spa store (that has a service department) they can probably match it up with the correct other half...or they'll have an entire new union you can use.

Don't waste your time at home depot or a plumbing supply. They ,might have an entire union (unlikely), but no way will they have just the half you need.
If you can't sell it on eBay, it may not even qualify as landfill.

Retired (mostly) from the industry after 33 years...but still putzing around with a consumer information website, and trying to sell obsolete owners manuals

Thank you so much! I will work on getting it unscrewed and see if I can get it working again! Thank you again!

The gasket is missing also. You need the nut half of a union, gasket, a street 90 and some flex pipe the same size.
