My Hot Tub Leaks
« on: October 09, 2012, 01:31:24 pm »
My hot tub leaks.  It is to the point that I am filling it up a quarter of the way each week.  I have a Cal Spa.  It leaks from a white looking thing that allows water to go into the heat exchange.  If I close it it will prevent water from getting through to the heat exchange.  What can I do?  The leak is not a gush but rather a steady drip.

it appears the leak is coming from the split nut? if so I would attempt to snug it down (they can loosen from vibrations over time) or you may need to replace the gasket inside the split nut itself

You may be able to lube the old gasket and get it to stop also.

I'd take the gasket out and flip it over.... This frequently solves the problem.
If you can't sell it on eBay, it may not even qualify as landfill.

Retired (mostly) from the industry after 33 years...but still putzing around with a consumer information website, and trying to sell obsolete owners manuals

also a good suggestion, I use to always carry a bottle of that Magic Lube stuff in my tool bag and the other guys always gave me crap, but you'll be surprised how many pesky little leaks a good lube can fix  ;D
