D1 Lotus Bay v. HS Aria v. Maxx 781
« on: February 19, 2012, 10:01:08 pm »
Hi - Also new. Based on endless "research" and availability of dealers near where I live (CT), trying to decide between D1 Lotus Bay, Hot Springs Aria, and Maxx 781. Obviously it's a personal choice. Main thing for me, however, is to have really strong jets.  I have a tolerance for pressure, and can't stand a weak massage.  Any advice on which of those models will be preferable?  Thanks!

How's the dealers for those 3 brands in your area... that's the first thing to judge.

Out of those 3 tubs (I am automatically biased,) but I believe the Aria would win in a power battle.

Maxx as a brand is... eh.  They are a smaller manufacturer and make a mid-line spa at best.

Hot Springs and D1 are top tier manufacturers and typically have rock solid support from the manufacturer.

The Aria for us has always been very popular since it has incredible power, the same pumps are what you find in a Grandee, but in a smaller spa.

Plus, the Aria has an awesome video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFLnbM2nP7k&feature=player_embedded

Welcome to the forum, I can appreciate your feeling on strong jets, I'm the same way and it heavily influenced my buying decision and 9 years later, I think it was a good one for me.

Two things, wet test to see for yourself, pump rating can be confusing and manufacturers go out of their way to confuse people.   Next, learn the controls and adjustments on the tub.   My tub has variable jets and diverters.  I can shut all the jets that I'm not using off forcing the pressure to the jets I'm using.  Along with the diverters I can channel almost all the water flow to where I'm sitting. Now on each pump the tub is designed to have 2 or three small jets that can't be shut off to prevent the operator from pumping where water can't go, but I can go from a gentle massage to a paint peeling one, which I like.

Wet test the Aria and the Lotus Bay and let that guide you.

Geez - hate missing out on a good joke.

Thanks for the replies. Dilemma for me is that the number of dealers near where I live is slim and getting a wet test isn't possible for all the models I'm considering.

You can definitely over think a purchase like this, though for 10K or more, it's worth the effort.

Take your time in making your decision.  Make sure you get something you'll like, and is well supported, and you can't go wrong.

Jacuzzi Jim knows that I think Jacuzzi's are the bomb... not Sundance though...  ;)
