Hot spring sovereign 1998
« on: October 02, 2011, 11:40:53 am »
Hi,  need some suggestions here.  I bought this tub a few months back.  I have 1500.00 in it.  The hot springs man has been out twice to fix it, still not fixed.  It is bringing water somehow up through the smart control lever and then drains back down through the part where all the plumbing is and elect parts.  He has replaced the comfort lever twice, no luck.  In a separate issue I see where the plumbing has been patched in a couple of spots.  Question is hot springs will get me 1000.00 trade in for a new one.  Should I dump this while I have a chance or put more money into it and hope it fixes it?   Suggestions?

As a Hot Spring dealer, I know a 1998 spa is hit or miss, primarily because they changed glues that year.  I would suggest trading it in for a new one, maybe they can give you a credit for the service calls you have as well.  Did you buy the spa knowing it had these problems?

Inside the equipment cabinet there are clear air tubes that terminate into individual check valves that keep water from pushing back into the equip area if you block a jet.  Look up towards the underside of the top of the spa.  These become brittle eith age and the barbed end where the tube connects can break off hence water will spill out.
