Installing heater probe
« on: August 02, 2011, 11:22:29 am »
Hi, I am trying to install a new spa pack that is from a different manufacture than the original.  The new one has an external heater probe while the old one did not.  I am told I have to install this somewhere in a "Well" in the tub.  Does anyone know where I can find some info on how to do this?  I am guessing I have to drill a hole in the bottom of the tub somewhere?  If yes, what is the best way to prevent it from leaking?

Thanks.

Before you do that I would strongly recommend trying to find a direct replacement or the one you had.  ???
If you can smile when things go wrong, you have someone in mind to blame.

It IS as bad as you think and they ARE out to get you.

They are out of stock, and tell me it would be a month to make one.  Then normal shipping usually takes another month, plus 35% import tax (if they do not lose it).  I might be able to go FedEx, but they usually charge $100 for a paper letter, so for something like this, it might make buying a new tub more affordable.

I got this part from someone in the US, and I installed it today.  Only took a month or so.  All systems are back in running: http://penthouse.co/spa/

dude! Next time you need parts just let me know. I can probably have then to you in about a week. All you'll need to do is pick me up from the airport and put me up for 5- 7 days ;-)
If you can't sell it on eBay, it may not even qualify as landfill.

I have read comments like this before, but Colombia is a place lots people say they would like to come to, but almost never come.  I could easily provide the penthouse free for a week for an American certified electrician to fix it once and for all.  I got the new GFCI and spa pack installed now.  If it does not burn up in the next 10 minutes, call me.
