Well, one more day to the weekend. Let me guess what everyone is going to be watching, Football!?

Don't forget about the baseball playoffs!  8-)

My weekend starts in about 3 hours.  Taking off this afternoon to play golf with friends.  A few drinks at the 19th hole and I'll be home in time to watch game-2 of the Phillies/Brewers.  Hopefully it'll be over in time for the VP debate.

Tomorrow won't be as much fun as I'm taking off to do all the yardwork I've been neglecting - trim hedges, edge, weeds, etc.  I foresee a long hot tub session Friday night.  Hopefully I'll be able to get all that crap done because I do have weekend plans.

Saturday AM is my son's middle school football game, followed by Penn State/Purdue on the tube in the afternoon.  My sister's birthday party is at 6pm.  Wonder how she's going to feel about all the guys watching game-3 of the Phillies/Brewers during her party?  :o

On Sunday, it's down to the Linc for the Eagles/Redskins.  My son's going with me so there will be no beer or tailgating involved.  I'll just have to make up for it when I get home Sunday evening.

I spent Halloween night hooking up my new TV and blu-ray player.  Didn't get many trick-or-treaters, but we usually don't in my neighborhood.  My daughter is 15 and she no longer goes.  She spent the night with friends at Dorney Park - local amusement park which dresses up for Halloween.  My son is 13.  He went to a party and came home with a very limited amount of candy.  As a matter of fact, all I had from his bag was a small Nestle Crunch bar.  Kinda sad that I will no longer be able to steal trick-or-treat candy from them anymore...

So you got that TV, Dax!!  Good for you. And a Blu-ray too boot!!  That is one thing that I don't have yet..guess when someone asks for it, I will look into it. So far they are happy with the HDTV.

I bought an HD camcorder. It's so cool to see home video that looks like professional football!!

I loved my sister's 46 inch Samsung and got the exact same one for my sunroom. I also have a Samsung 23 inch in my kitchen. I am very happy with both of them.

I heard on the news that the price of the flat screen TV's will be coming down as many people are buying the digital conversion boxes and hanging on to those old TV's.

Oh the camcorder is a Cannon Vixia HV30. I was really amazed at the quality of the video. My husband is traveling a lot now and he is missing my kid's activities, so I wanted to capture everything on video that I can show in HD. I don't have the capability to burn to blu- ray yet (or that blu-Ray player)..but maybe that will be the motivator that gets me one!!

It’s good to hear you are happy your Samsung LCD’s.  This is my first Samsung product in a long time. It really does have a great picture in both HD and even SD.

At least Blu-ray players are coming down in price. The Sony PS3 is a good way to go too, it has a really good Blu-ray player. No burning, though.

I will have to add the burner to my computer, and then maybe the PS3 would be the choice to show the Blu-Ray..hopefully they will come down in price soon too!!

Sharp Aquos 46" 1080P LCD.  Picture is amazing particularly with blu-ray.  Kinda glad my old tube TV died now...

It came down to the Samsung or the Sharp.  The Samsungs were very nice, but they were a couple hundred dollars more, had a very reflective screen which would not have worked so welll in our family room due to a large window, and it had this reddish tint around the outside of the panel.  They call it a touch of color.  Not sure why they came up with that.  There was also a brand new model, which had a blue tint, but that was even a little more money.  So I went with the Sharp.  Plus I got $100 off the blu-ray player of my choice by going with the Aquos.  But I would have been very happy with either brand.

Cool, sounds like you got a nice TV!

Yeah, I got the one with the ToC, it was almost a deal breaker.  Luckily, it is not visible at home.

We still love our 50" Samsung DLP, got it when 720 dpi prices were dropping. Now I wonder if Blue ray is worth having on a 720DPI set.

I bought a Samsung DLP (61a750) before my LCD.  It had great picture and it was huge!  Unfortunately, a bug got inside the set and was visible on the screen soon after I purchased it. I return it for my current LCD.  Sometimes I wish I would have tried another DLP, it really was a great price for a 61” 1080P set.

I would say no. 1080P is extremely sharp and you can only benefit from a 1080P TV. What you can do is get a high hef or an upconversion to high def DVD. The other thing to think about is it 720I or 720P - the I is less sharp than the P. I think that a 720P TV is slightly less sharp than a 1080I.

My old TV broke, we bought a high def model and NOBODY watches TV in high def. Whenever the Yankees were on and my kids just happen to be watching, I would turn it to the high def channel just to use it. My wife bought me the "Planet Earth" DVD set and with it on upconversion and in high def - it is amazing. I don't believe that upconversion gives true high def but it does something to the picture.
