What do you have over your heads?
« on: September 06, 2008, 09:38:41 am »
Wanted to start a poll but I guess I don't have enough posts.

So just wondering what you have over your tub and pros/cons?

1.  Nothing (Stars)
2.  Umbrella
3.  Gazebo
4.  Other

We're trying to find something or at least an idea of what to put over the tub, more for privacy from above than anything else.

Why do you want privacy over your head?

My answer is trees limbs/leaves but it's not by design. In the winter I have the sky. Originally I was going to enclose it into a room - glad I didn't!

I have a house on the back side, cover on one side, backyard in the front and an open view to our neighbors on the other side. We keep thinking how to block this side.

Sorry, more than you wanted to know!

tub is located between our houses so they could look down into it from one of their rooms.  Doesn't bother me but they might get an eyefull haha.

What about those self standing awnings that they sell for picnics or the nicer ones they have with netting. It's the end of season, someone may have it on sale or maybe you can get it on-line.

I keep forgetting to take pictures during the daytime. Mine is surrounded with privacy walls on three sides and has a curved roof / canopy to keep the rain and snow off while you are soaking. I have party lights over the spa and you can only enter in the one corner.

It's hard to explain, I'll finally post some pics tomorrow. The spa roof is coming off soon because I am building a pergola over the section where we like to eat outside. (We have lost two metal frame gazebos to wind so far) I want to put a matching roof over the tub except it will have a smoked plexiglass roof to keep the elements off us but let some light in. I've seen it done before, it's very inviting and comfortable.

Small tree and sky with lots of high flying jets. The good thing about Vegas is I have the same view 12 months a year.

Nothing but sky. The closest tree is 30 feet away and my house is even further. It is great that no matter what seat you sit in my tub you have a great view of the sky.  :D

I've posted this pic before, but we have an awning/pergola over our tub.
The awning only covers about 1/2 of the tub.
If it's raining or snowing, we can sit back in the corner & stay dry.
Or if we want to see the stars we can sit on the other side and gaze up.
The best of both worlds IMO...

I finally got a nice picture at sunset so you can see the lights etc...

I like your idea too Renee. The curved roof you see is coming off and will be replaced with pergola with a smoked plexiglass cover on top of it. A pergola is like the roof in the example picture below.

I will then build a bigger matching one for us to sit under and eat outside on the same deck. I may incorporate a bar into one side of it as well.

You can also now see how changing a pump and taking off the skirting requires a lot of deck disassembly, which is precisely why I used nothing but screws to put it together.

I like that dedicated 270 degree wrap around corner seat and the faux stone skirting Zep. That's a very nice looking spa.

Mine has the neck massager / seat (in the top right corner) with 2 large lower jets. The neck seat sits lower than the others so just your head sticks out. That's the first corner I head for when I get in. You can't see the four neck jets in the picture because they fire down at about 45 degrees around the neck pillow.

Here is the stock pic from the Dynasty website.

Aside from my halo, there's nothing above my head excpet the stars or clouds when I soak in our tub.  Sitting there with snow coming down is quite tranquil.  Although heavy rain, not so much.

I do like your setup gw.  Looks like a great party spot.

Every time I see Zeps, faux stone look, it makes me wish Sundance came out with their version a year earlier.  I'd definitely have went with that option for my Cameo.  So cool looking!
