I have to agree with Boni. I am not in sales but I would think that if I were in a hot tub store selling spas to people who want that $10,000 spa for $49.95 with a $50 rebate, I too may want to know what someone is looking at and/or their price range.

You can't compare apples to apples as different brands sell for different amounts and different models have different features. If your comparing a HS Prodigy with a D1 Lotus Bay ... pricing got to be different.

Congrats on the spa purchase, happy tubbin to you.  I can see bonni's point. When Im on the sales floor I try to focus on finding the model that we offer that best fits their needs and style without talking about price.  Then when they find what they want we can talk price and see if its in their price range, if not find the spa that fits them best and IS in the price range they want.  When you start talking price to soon it adds to much confusion I think to the consumer and blocks their ability to choose the best spa for them.

Just my two cents!

I'm thinking there probably is a more clear explanation as to what was said to make him want to leave. I couldn't put my finger on it with the story so I'm guessing it just wasn't phrased right in the post.

I had someone do me that way one time.  My ninja training reflexively took over and the monkey ended up stealing their peach.  I'm glad it turned out better for you.

Enjoy your new spa.

Well, I'm sorry.  I'll go back to happily ignoring ya'll if you'll extend me the same courtesy.  Didn't mean to cause offense.

Funny thing is, I dont need to ignore your posts cause 9 out of 10 times I enjoy them.  Its when the spelling and grammer police come out or the holier than thou attitude shows is when I fire back.  Sorry if my presence on this board cramps your style.

Congrats on the spa, but I guess I don't get it. What exactly did he do to make you so angry? Was there another part to this story?
Maybe he was just trying to figure out if you were serious about a particular tub, or just shopping by price.  And maybe if I were there, I would feel differently, but I don't see why this would make you leave and buy another tub out of spite.

I know I have hit sales people (for different items) on days when they were either in a bad mood or just plain ignorant, but I wouldn't get mad enough to buy something else if that wasn't what I really wanted. ...He might have lost a sale, but you might have second thoughts later because your decision was made based on anger.

Sorry if I misunderstood.  :-/ Enjoy your tub anyway...

No reason to be sorry. I posted another post about this. The first time we talked to this store they lied to us to get us to come into their store, said they had what we were looking for we get there and the guys says oh I thought you said such and such, but while your here type of thing.

Term:
I wasn't offended, but I did have to lay on the floor in a ball for a few minutes.
Ouch!  .......I don't think I will ever view monkeys or peaches in quite the same way.

and SDCPL, congrats on the new Prodigy.  Your gonna love it!

Price had nothing to do with it. The saleman being ignorant is what it's all about. I should be able to ask about any spa I want I'm the one spending the money!

Since when?? :-?  I'd be happy ignoring ya'll.  I don't know anyone here from Adam, and don't think I'd care to know many of ya, at this point.

I'd like to start a new poll==except it doesn't apply to hot tubs:

Who on this forum, does any good for mankind?

Help the Homeless?

Donate Blood??

Organ donor on your License??

Feed the poor??

Impress me, folks.

===================

 Well, since you asked....

In my free time, I wander the streets feeding the homeless, helping little old ladies across the streets and beating up drug dealers.

If I find a stray aninmal, I take it home and care for it. Currently I have 32 cats, 3 dogs, 2 spiders, an angry racoon and 1 blind Lima. Besides being old, an incontinent Lima has lost all its teeth, and I must chew its food for it.  (Just as I do for my grandmother).

I do a lot of work with unwed mothers, mostly helping them get their start.

I tip extra big at the exotic dance clubs, as many of the strippers are single moms trying to work their way through community college.

Due to a medical condition, I cannot donate blood, however, but I do donate my sperm and only ask to be reimbursed for the cost of the DVDs.

I used to dress up as a clown and entertain children at the local hospital, but due to a misunderstanding involving little Timmy and a balloon animal I was making, the courts have ordered I do not enter the children’s ward anymore. (I also must stay 500 feet away from schools and poultry farms, but that is another story).

I have started several religions and forgiven untold thousands of their transgressions against their own inadequacies.

In an effort to better others, I point out other's faults so that they may become better people.

Ok now I understand, sorry I didn't see the beginning of this story. So now I will speak from a different perspective...sometimes things happen for a reason.  ;)Best of luck with your new tub

Oh man, here I go again..I am confused...AGAIN :o

This time by Christi

Christi, you would be happy ignoring us, don't know us from Adam and don't think you would want to know many of us anyway..yet you ask what we do for mankind?

I will tell you from being here for a couple of years, there are many totally awsome people who post here. They take their time to help hot tub owners make decisions, manage water, do repairs. Yet that is only a part of it. Have a question about your tile floor?...your swimming pool?, your dog or cat, even your kid? There is a hot tub owner on here who is more than willing to share great information.

In the mix with all of this are  posters who may react to certain things causing the tone of the forum to change. In spite of the many happy faces  :)that we can use, sometimes it is difficult to understand what someone is really saying. So  relatively innocent things seem more than they are. You also have to realize dealers and sales people on here are passionate about what they do for a living. Things get fired up when they talk about their products. Not a big deal, it all heals over.

This is a great forum, there are many many nice, really great people on here...somedays it doesn't seem that way, but I bet if you had the opportunity to meet many of these folks in person, you would in fact be very honored to know them. ;)

Support your dealer so they can support you!

Boni--to clear the air, and confusion, I was reading posts and getting caught up on things, when I kept reading all these derogatory statements (which, gotta admit, happen alot) and, as I said in the "something different" thread, didn't know and STILL don't know the whole story.

SO, though you, dax, in canada, and I all ribbed and congratulated each other in "flyered up", it was not taken out of context.

Maybe if I knew the whole story, I could  have formulated a different/better opinion.  I totally appreciate the passion felt about selling and owning spas.

So, I will take a lick off my Prozac lick, chill out, shop at the dollar store, and...

[glow]apologize to Mr Ogden since he obviously is just fighting fire with fire[/glow].

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT:

Please, everyone, strike the "wouldn't care to know ya" statement.  Uncalled for and I spoke out of pure anger.

BB--you are a great moderator and a fair person, so I apologize to you for getting my claws and fur in a huff.
