Well if you SHARED!...
If you can't sell it on eBay, it may not even qualify as landfill.

Retired (mostly) from the industry after 33 years...but still putzing around with a consumer information website, and trying to sell obsolete owners manuals

Just got an email from one of his hot tub customers,  He canceled his order, did not get a tub, but they each left positive feedback for eachother.

6-8 weeks gets you outside of the window of being able to do a chargeback on your credit card, and they could scam a lot of folks in 2-3 months before they get caught.

I appreciate all the help here.  We have decided to definitely not by a hot sub online.  Time to start looking locally again.  Any suggestions on what we could get for $6000-$7000 or do we need to be prepared to spend significantly more for something that is going to last.

Glad I found you guys before we made an expensive mistake.

There are MANY options out there, good and bad. Here is a short list of what I'd consider some of the top spa makers around. These links take you to websites where you can enter your zip code into their dealer locators to see who is local to you:

http://www.arcticspas.com
http://www.calderaspas.com/Locator/index.html
http://www.dimensiononespas.com/findadealer.asp
http://www.hotspring.com/index_spas_hot_spring.html
http://www.jacuzzi.com/products/
http://www.marquisspas.com/locator.asp
http://retailer.sundancespas.com/Retailers/index.php

There are certainly others that owners/dealers/salespeople represent here that you may be interested in like Artesian, Bullfrog, Coleman, etc. Take your time and find the best/right spa for you.

Dalaina,

Good luck and happy spa hunting.  We started out with that price range in mind, and the more we looked, the more we wanted, and the more we are prepared to spend.

FIrst of all, there are a lot of good, quality tubs out there for a decent price.  It all depends on what you want, what type of seating, how big you need, where you are going to put it.  And wet test--if a dealer won't fill a tub for you and you are seriously considering it, walk away.  I am sure though, that the dealers get exhausted filling tubs for hopefuls, but I have found there are dealers out there that are alot more willing to do waht they can than others, which was what started my "salesperson issues" thread.

Alot of dealers on this forum represent Hot Springs, Arctics, Sundance, Caldera, and an occaional Bullfrog.  Many of these have a "lower end" line, which means you are getting a good quality spa backed by great manufacturers.

And, deal with a dealer you trust.  Take your time and don't be pressured.

Like I said before, the dealers and consumers will not lead you astray.

Good luck!! ;) :) ::)

FYI,

I had a guy in our showroom last week inquiring about Hanauma Bay. It was early morning so they called me in to talk to him untill a salesperson showed up. This is what he told me about the company.

They are made in China
He found them on ebay and when he called the number the salesman had all the right answers. He kept referring to his 99.999% approval rating (that should be enough to scare a person)
I pretty much addressed his question with what has been voiced in this thread.

I think we can sum it up, is if it isn't in front of you to see it, sit in it, and test drive it, you are taking a major chance in buying it.  The only things I have bought on ebay have been small items.  Not cars, boats, spas,...or Jesus toast!!
