Is my water To hard?
« on: July 16, 2007, 01:47:38 pm »
Hi All,

Just a question - I live in a notoriously hard water city.  My hardness measures at about 300ppm right now.  Do I need to reduce this number or is it ok.  Also it seems like I constantly add ph down - it will measure around 7.2 after an hour of adding it - but the next day it is back at 7.8-8.0?  Should I be woried abot that?

Calcium hardness should measure 200-400ppm.  So 300ppm seems about perfect.

My alk is usually always low -its around 80 right now.  I have been adjusting it higher before adding ph down but the alk always drops back down to this level.
