Ozonator not working, any recommendations?
« on: June 21, 2007, 09:22:56 am »
The ozonator on my artesian dove canyon has stopped working.  The little green light is not on anymore and i've noticed quite an increase in chemical usage.  My question is do i order parts for this one or replace it with a whole new unit?  The one in there now is a DEL MCD-50.

You probably just need to replace a chip.

Del recommends the electrode and power supply be replaced every two years, which if pretty much all the innards.

The good news is that you now have evidence that the ozonator allows you to use fewer chems.

Is it possible that the cost of a new ozonator would be almost the same as the replacement parts?

I have seen the Prozone PZ1 on the net for about $100. Even if its a little more then it may be worth buying a new unit. I've also seen JED's for around the same price.

I do have a question though to jennyfun, are you sure that you haven't turned off the ozonator but putting your filtration time to 0. I have a 2005 Island series and I can turn it off completely since I have a circ pump as yours does. Just a thought.

Vinny,
I have checked and double checked that the filtration cycle is set for 12 and still no go.  The dealer came out today and it seems i know more than them.  The dealer has offered to repair it free of charge but it was me that had to call him later today to give him a part number for the electrode and power supply.  There was a certain degree of uncertainty what unit was in my tub and i'm just about done with them if it wasn't for the offer to repair for free.  I guess i will have to see if he calls back tomorrow as i left a message with the part number later today.

Sounds like you have a good dealer if they are willing to fix it out of warrantee. I would let them try.....
