Run jets or not

We were away for 3 weeks, the water looks fine.  I need to check it, I'm sure by now it needs some kind of chemical.   In your opinion, would you check it before running the jets, or run the jets first for awhile and then check it?

Thanks for your feedback.

I would check the PH and if it's OK, I would shock the water if using bromine or add about 6 PPM chlorine and run all the jets for a full cycle. I would test for sanitizer after the cycle and if you still have free bromine/chlorine then you're go to go. If you don't then add more shock/chlorine and repeat until you have free a sanitizer reading.

If you shocked the water before you left you really may be OK after the first treatment.
