Foam pad under spa?
« on: October 10, 2006, 03:14:48 pm »
Anyone ever try or recommend putting some sort of foam pad under your tub to deaden noise and maybe provide some insulation?  We're putting our tub on a concrete pad which I understand should be quieter than a wood deck, but for not a lot of money I could put a hi-density foam pad underneath for even further damping and maybe some insulation from the cold concrete.  I use this stuff under my home gym and it's very dense, and I can feel the heat retention when I lay on it.

Anyone think this would be a BAD idea?

Here's what I would use:

I think it's unnescary.

IF the tub was on a deck, I'd consider it, espically so it was a TP design. But for  a full foamed tub on a concrete slab, I don't think you will see any benifit.

The main problem I see would be moisture getting trapped in the foam pad.

i am just a rookie tub owner
but I don't see it as being necessary.

i don't notice noise being being a problem
in fact i don't even really notice noise.

i will be interested to see what the
experts say about this in following
posts.

Thats what I was going to say too....
but I knew he would say
"well concrete traps moisture too",
but it doesn't seem like it would trap it
like the foam pad would and it just seems
to me like that foam pad would always be moist
or mildew under there?
