Workable distance around hot tub
« on: August 21, 2006, 03:23:27 pm »
I'm planning on installing my hot tub close to a PVC fence.  How close can i place the tub 8'4" x 7'7" to the fence, can I go less then 20 inches?  Only one side would be near the fence the other sides will be fully exposed?

First check your local codes.

As far as the spa goes, as long as the equipment side is not facing the fence you can put it as close as you like. The only time someone would need to get in the other sides if it leaked.

also, keep in mind if you use a cover lift, you'll need clearance for that....not to mention it's nice to be able to walk all the way around the tub, just in case someone drops something overboard.....not like that EVER happens, I'm sure.  ::)

How much space does the cover lifter actually require?  I've been told and read only 18 inches, but i don't know if that is pratical

http://www.scarritt.com/storcovrremovalsyst12.htm this will give you hotspring lifter clearance specs along with ez lifter. Clearance to fence leave 1" for lifter arm. Otherwise, just enough close cover, adjust flaps, lock cover.
