I don't know if you have a Bullfrog dealer nearby, if so check out the Tadpole line. In my opinion the are a-little better than most entry level tubs. The are many excellent brands on the market and most make and entry level version.  Take a good look around at the dealers in your area, find one or two that you are comfortable with and wet test.  If you have any questions, post them here, I'm more than sure you'll see a lot of different opinions.
Good luck shopping

I can't make a comment about Jaz or Vikenand because I'm not familiar with them.  Maxx, produces the Coleman and Elite lines plus acouple of private label spas, the Elite seems like a nice entry level tub. I have a friend that has owned one for about 5 years and is quite happy. If you are refering to Tiger River when you say Tiger they are made by Watkins the same company as Caldera and Hot Springs and are probably a little better than the Elite.  Cal and Gulf Coast have had mixed reviews, however there are a couple of Cal owners on this forum that are very happy.  Don't know if this helps at all but I hope so.

In addition to the Tiger River line, which has the same warranty HotSpring offers except for the exterior siding, Watkins also offers a "Hot Spot" line. I have been very impressed with the line: simple, deep, comfortable, and not very expensive.

If you have a Caldera dealer nearby, the same spas are sold under the "Highland" series.

Check 'em out!

Have you looked at the Island spa by Artesian?  You might be able to find a single pump spa for <$5,000.
