I find the HTH pool/spa test kit to be a much more affordable test kit that does everything I need to keep my spa water in top shape.

I used an Aqua Chem test kit from Kmart for years until I read that the "fact" about measuring total chlorine (TC).

The "fact" I read was that OTO drop testers immediately read TC and doesn't read free chlorine first. I read that about 2 years ago and switched to the Taylor so I can see my free chlorine and total chlorine.

I guess I haven't felt a need to do that.  I'll put my 3-4 month water up against anyones. I guess I don't pay a whole lot of attention to my chlorine level of any kind. Its almost always 0 when I get in and I add the amount I need when I get out.
