Maintenance Questions.
« on: April 30, 2006, 01:10:27 pm »
Good afternoon.........

Bought an Artesian/Island/Saba about 6 months ago. Nice spa.
Usage: every other day/every thrid day.

Have been cleaning the filters every other week with the garden hose and a higher pressure nozzle.  Went on vacation for a couple weeks. Came back and cleaned the filters, but not as successful as before. Suggestions?

Secondly, how ofter should I change the water?

Thanks!

you may be experiencing some staining that doesn't hose away. Hoseing off the filters is just that, to clean them, get some filter cleaner. You can use your dishwasher with soap. no dry/heat cycle at end of the wash. (No dishwasher if using baquaspa or softsoak.) Always check your owner's manual for their instructions. Unicel has good instructions for filter cleaning.
Change water about every 3-4months. Or more often.

I have a 350 gal tub that I sanitize with dichlor, and ozone.  I use the tub about 3x a week.

About once a month I CLEAN (not rinse) the filter. (soak 24 hrs in filter cleaner and rinse verywell).  I have an extra filter so I swap the clean one in.

I shock the tub about every 10-14 days using Renew by leiserure time (it's MPS).

I alternate every week with a bit of Defender (for stain and scale) and Clarifier.

I usually go about 3-4 months to change out the water.

So far, so good!

Get yourself some filter clean and soak the filters from a minimum of 4 hours, if you have time do it overnight. Then wash with high pressure hose. That will take care of your problem.

Change the water every three or four months, or any time my brother-in-law shows up.
