stamped Concrete

I opted out of using stamped concrete on my front porch because it seems too slick and slippery.
I'd be very leery about using it around a pool or spa.

Now if I could just find a sight that told me who in my area could actually do a good job as described here that would be helpful as well!

I would think textured concrete like I have seen at home shows would not be that slippery and would hopefully also help reduce the risk of tracking concrete dust into the spa that could eventually damage the plumbing.

Stamped concrete is absolutely gorgeous and comes in a lot of different textures/styles, but it does get slippery when wet as Phil says.  Barefoot is no problem if it's warm though.

I love my new stamped concrete patio and it is not slick at all when wet.

I suppose it is what pattern and style you go with.

Mine is no more slick than regular concrete.

Will the concrete fade?  Are you supposed to re-stain the concrete every so often?   A co-worker of mine said something about having to re-stain the concrete every so often (like a wooden deck i suppose).

My concrete guy told me some people restain/reseal some people don't.

He said some people are almost neurotic about it and want it to look brand new all the time so they restain/seal every 2 years.

Then he said some people like the look as it ages and do not want to stain except for maybe like once every 8-10 years to give it a new look.

He said it is not very expensive to restain/seal if a customer wants it done in the off season like the Fall.
He said all mine would be about $350 bucks to give it a brand new look every few years.

He said he personally restains/seals about every 7-8 years because he doesn't like the brand new look.

That's why I hired a professional to do our stamped concrete...ALOT of work!  It wasn't cheap, but I loved outcome.  Mine isn't slippery because it has texture.
I've attached a couple of pics, but I usually mess it up somehow... :-(

If you put [ img] without the space in the brackets before the URL for each picture and [ /img] without the space in the brackets after it then it should work.

Are you from Georgia as your name would suggest, particularly the Atlanta area? And if so who did you use and did they do a good job if you don't mind saying.

(Ah, Warner Robbins I see. Probably a little far for work in the Atlanta area!)

Good looking stuff!  My wife wants me to add slate to cover our (as she calls it) ugly concrete.    Anyone else done slate over their concrete pads?

I advise looking at some of their work.

I went and looked at several
completed jobs that they had done.

I am quite happy the way mine turned out.

Those are the ones I was trying to post.  
Yes, I live in Warner Robins, about 90 miles South of Atlanta; so it is quite a distance.  I don't know if they do jobs that far or not, but if you're still interested, I can get you the name and phone number this evening.  I have their card at home.
We looked at several jobs this company did before we went with them.  They did a few jobs on the AF base here and it looked great!  They did a good job overall.  We had a couple of spots that came up in front...they had done an overlay on the existing concrete there and the back patio.  But they came out and fixed it.  The sidewalk leading to the hot tub was new concrete that they had poured.  It makes such a difference, instead of just plain concrete!  We are very happy with the whole thing.
