2nd annual cleaning

I did my second annual water drain followed by a total scrubbing down, the refill has started.   Used swirl away for the 2nd time, can't really say much about it, didn't see the mounds of crud others have seen.  The only thing I did notice was if I put my head inside the filter compartment (Someone from Colorado told me not to do that if I had a Hot Springs  ) I noticed a build up of scum on the roof the filter compartment. Normally you don't look there and when changing filters you are standing up outside the tub. I thought I knew every ince of my tub, a fact that cost a Dynasty Rep a lunch on a bet,  but I hadn't looked up there till now.  Water is being filled back up again. I was hoping the swirl away would free up a couple of the spinner jets.   Most of them seem pretty good, but there is one that doesn't feel real smooth. I'll retest my dealer's 5 year no fault warranty this week. I'll put in an extra jet and take this one in.  

Oh, when I filled in early March the tub was 46F, I'll see in about 30 minutes where my starting point is, I hope to be soaking at midnight.

All filled at 8:30am, starting temp of 63, should be soaking tonight with no problem.

Found initial PH to be 7.2, higher than the normal start. Alkalinity was less than 30. (I put in 3 drops expecting it to be at least that high) and hardness was undectable. I added about a 1/4 pound of baking soda which typically will put the alkalinity where it should be and only raise the PH slightly. The hardness chemical recommended 4 tsps, so I put in 3, and will retest tomorrow.

This tub holds 425 gallons. I did add just a teaspoon if dichlor when I started.

What range do you try to keep your hardness at?

And after I do a water change,I use 4-5 teaspoons of di-chlor........I probably overdose,but feel confident the tub is sanitary.

I'd have to find the notes with my test kit, I think I keep the hardness around 100-120ppm.  I just put in the 1tsp of dichlor to start. The rest will come after our soak tonight. Another reason I don't put that much in right away is I want to close the cover immediately so it will heat faster.  Its closing on 80 degrees now.
