Using Health Insurance for hot tubs

Has anyone had experience with there health insurance companies partially paying for a hot tub. I already have a prescription that will cover the taxes. Just wondering if its worth the trouble to deal with my insurance company. BTW I have purchased a Tiger River Siberian, and am it should be delivered by Thursday or Friday or next week.

Some insurance companies do pay for the spa, just ordered a spa for a client that had an accident and his insurance company is paying for the entire amount.

Over the last 3-4 years we have had about a dozen spa orders that were paid for buy an insurance company were the clients had, had bad accidents.

Do not know the details of how they got them paid for other than... lawyers were involved.

Most health insurance policies have provisions for medical equipment.  There maybe lifetime and per piece dollar limits.  
There is no harm in filing a claim, just to see what would happen.  
By covering the taxes, do you mean sales tax?  I've heard in some states that this is possible.  
Also, check and see if you can deduct some portion of the cost as a medical deduction on your federal tax return.

Florida exempts sales tax on a spa purchases if accompanied by a doctor's prescription.  Don't know about other states.....

I know here in Ontario, it works the same with sales tax.

HTM. Can you give me the details in claiming that tax exemption in Ontario. We bought last year and do have a medical certificate for the tub. Although our insurance company has ryders in the policy that won<t cover this expense and at the federal level, CCRA does not re-imburse the expense off of our income tax.

Well I dont have those details. Sorry. I know because my parents did so on their 2003 income tax. Their accountant likely understands the in's and out's better than I. Have you discussed it with your accoountant?
