Hello to all...
Been reading here, there and everywhere and I am totally overwhelmed with info....I mean REALLY OVERWHELMED!!!
However, that being said, I'm going to attempt to save some time here. I am really leaning towards the HS Vanguard and would like to get some opinions on what are comparable in the Dimension 1 line and in the Sundance line vs the Vanguard.
I thought I was pretty well set on the HS but after reading more

and just visiting a HS dealer I am going to look at these two brands. The salesman recommended I look at them...?

I guess first order of business is have you wet tested any of them. This will help alot in figuring out what fits you best.

I agree with stuttering TTTTTodd. �The wet test will usually decide it for you. �Hot Spring, Sundance and D-1 are all excellent in their own way.

A comparable D-1...hmm...The two models that come to mind would be a step down or up in price.

Comparable in the in the Sundance line I guess would be the Optima? Of course if you could be talked into a lounger then the Cameo is great.

...well I went wet testing today...

I went to Sundance and Hot Springs, Dimension is 1.5 hours one way so we sorta gave up on them.

the funny thing is.. I changed my mind completely on the HS.

Now it is between the Envoy and the Altimar.

My biggest question now is filtration...

HS...100% filtration all the time... and the saleman says "nobody else does this"

Sundance saleswoman says " let me guess, you spoke to HS and they said we don't filter all the time right?, well we do"

Which is it?

How bout this for an answer... They are both going to keep the water clean.

Anyone have the guts to say something different? i.e. Shannon.

Every spa filters 100% of the water. �Hot Spring filters 100% of the water 100% of the time. �Same end result. �If you keep your water chemistry balanced you will be fine.

Don't sweat the filtration issue.

Did the Sundance sales person not show you the filtration on the Altimar? The microfilter is always filtering the water if you leave the circ. pump to be on constantly. The larger pleated filter works when the filter cycles are activated. That gives plenty of opportunity for filtration. Our spa water is plenty clear, so they must be doing something right.

Well, I have a big gut - er, I mean: I have the guts to weigh in here: Chew me up if I blow it, all of you Optima owners out there.

HotSpring filters all the water which any pump moves. It's really that simple. We have big enough filters to allow ALL the water to go through a filter. Most other brands rig the filter up on a T fitting so that part of the water goes through the filter and part doesn't. The percentage or ratio of filtered-to-unfiltered water is constantly changing as the filter loads with dirt, oil and so forth. Do they filter 100% of the water? Sure. If you can wait long enough.

Which is better? As was said above, both systems can keep your water clear with proper care. But the HS system can filter in ten minutes the same amount of water that a competitor can take hours to filter. It's simple math: if you are only filtering half or less of the water you move, you have to run the pump a lot longer to filter the same amount of water. If the filter is heavily loaded, it will be a whole lot longer.

Also: the throw-away filters on the Sundance spas do a fine job. Very fine. And as soon as they stop doing a fine job, you throw them in the trash and buy a new one - for $15 give or take. Our old standard filters last up to three years, and the new Tri-X fitlers can double that in most cases. For some people, the Tri-X can save money - for the rest of you it will just save time and hassle.
