Hot Tubbin In the Rain

Hello Has any one tried using your spa in the Rain? My wife and I tried this last nite. I didnt like the cold rain but my wife enjoyed it.

I've done it once - it was a real gently rain.  There were two things I didn't like:  1) I wear specs so of course within minutes I couldn't see (hate that.)  2) I couldn't stop thinking about what the rain was doing to my water chemistry (LOL!)

I plan to try it again next time a gentle rain comes.  This time I'm going to wear a ball cap (so I can see) and not worry about the water chem. . .I figure that's what Spa up/Spa Down are for!

I wear glasses also and the rain does make it hard to see . I will try a hat next time also.

Do your glasses get fogged up from the steam?

Yes bethshar my glasses did fog up in the rain worse than normal.

My glasses don't get fogged from the steam at all.  (Rain is a different story.)  However, I think as the weather gets colder the steam might be a bigger issue.  (We've been tub owners just over 2 months)  We'll soon find out!

My hot tub has not been delivered yet, but we will have it under a gazebo.  I think sitting out there in the rain will be fantastic...with no harm to water chemistry.

I like being in the spa while raining.  I don't wear glasses.

It was nice when it was hot to be in the tub during rain and we have a bunch of baseball caps hanging in the inside porch to tuck my hair up in. But, the big problem is having dry towels near by, so I think we will skip it during the colder rainfalls. Umm, I will have to think up an invention to keep towels dry and warm when it snows...

Here's something different. Sometimes in the rain, we use the cover lift to prop up half the cover on about a thirty degree angle. You can sit under the edge and let as much or little rain as you want hit you. We lock the   cover locks on the side that we leave down so the cover can't slide off the tub. In other words, it's like only lifting up half your cover to a thirty degree angle and propping it there with your cover lift.

But, the big problem is having dry towels near by, so I think we will skip it during the colder rainfalls. Umm, I will have to think up an invention to keep towels dry and warm when it snows...

Try preheating your towels in the dryer for a couple of minutes then storing them in a cooler (or 'warmer', as it should be called in this case) by the tub.  Maybe even get one of those rechargable (by microwave) heat packs to place in the cooler as well.  Cheap, easy and will keep'em dry and warm.  Might as well throw your robes in there, too!

 :oLike, duh, a cooler to bring outside with a heated grain bag. Before the hot tub, I used to have to bring microwaved bags of grain to bed for my cold feet.

We have a canvas gazebo with open sides up over our tub.  Tubbing in the rain is one of our favorite times to be out.  The soft patter of the rain sounds so relaxing, it smells good too.
