Is this a fair deal?
« on: October 07, 2004, 12:35:57 pm »
Hi Everyone - This is Moon Doggy !!!

I'm getting back into the hot tub game after a long absence.

Hey I'm looking hard at a 1998 Marquis Spirit Spa, hardly used and in great shape.  It's going for $700 bucks but I think maybe I can get it for a bit less (they seem desperate to sell - younger couple - stretched financially).

What would be some things to look at - when I visit?

Here's what I do know:

hard cover w/ locks
currently using it 110 (I might wanna go 220 - if my old house can handle it)
heater element replaced last year
good wood
good condition

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Moon Doggy - out!!!

Better get er filled up and heating before you make any decisions. If it has a circ pump you should gain about 2 degrees in a half an hour. If it has Balboa equipment and utilizes the 2" diameter 14" length (give or take) stainless steel heating tube you should be able to se a 3 or 4 degree heat rise in 15 minutes. That is if you get there before it's fully heated up. Good luck.

Yeah, for sure check it out when it's filled and running. Maybe ask them if you can bring a few friends over and try it out!!! Otherwise, it sounds like a good deal. Good Luck.
