Motor cuts off
« on: October 11, 2020, 10:40:40 pm »
Hi everyone! I have a Caldera Aventine spa. 11 years old, in great shape, but recently started a problem.

Temp. is set at 104 and heats/maintains well. If the pump is turned on high, the motor shuts off after 15 minutes. Sometimes it will restart straight away, other times it won't.

Issue does not occur if temp is lowered to 102.

Wondering if it's the temperature sensor or something within the motor. Thank you in advance!

Pumps need to breath is there enough ventilation getting to the pump? Try removing the panel nearest to the pump and see if the problem still exists. A pump running on high speed for 15 mins will generate 160 -180 degrees or more if there is a lack of ventilation. Spas in decks will often not get proper ventilation. Most systems will shut the pump off after 15 mins automatically. If it is to hot it might not start back up right away

Agreed and if after taking the panel off the issue is gone then you need to find a simple way to give it more air by permanently which won't be difficult either by drilling a few holes, or a slot or a hole saw ... somewhere in an area that can't be seen easily and has a path to the outside along with some wire mesh/"chicken wire" to cover the opening to keep critters out.
