Leak - Can't remove drain due to silicone
« on: June 30, 2018, 10:44:19 am »
So... I'm a DIY on this hot tub, but not not choice.  I have beat my head against the wall trying to get anyone to work on this hot tub, but no one will touch it because it's 25 years old and it's in my basement.  I have learned how to repair nearly anything you can think of on this tub over the last three years.

However, I have a new leak, and I can't seem to get this piece to move.  I've cleaned around it as best I can, and cut the silicone between the tub and the seal.  I have a good pair of pliers to get this piece to move, but I'm putting a lot of pressure on it, and I'm afraid that I'm going to break the drain off of the tub.  Any ideas?  I can't seem to attach a picture to this post.... so, it's a transparent piece and I can see that there's likely silicone throughout the piece.

This is where the water drains out and towards the pump and heater right under the filter.  If anyone can help me to post a pic, I'll gladly post it.  When I click on attach an image, I get this -

I wish I could see what your talking about. I have sharpened 1-1/2 inch putty knifes to slide under fittings and cut silicon. You can kinda pry at the same time.

If you have a new part use a big pliers on that nut. Razor blade.
