Ordered New Hotsprings Grandee NXT
« on: July 09, 2017, 10:41:50 pm »
After exhaustive research (thanks to this forum), I placed an order for a 2017 Grandee NXT. Great dealer experience and I think a fair deal. $12,000 for spa, NXT steps, cover, cover cradle, delivery, and start up chemicals. Taxes extra.

One question is about the Frog @ease floater system. Dealer says they have had great feedback but I can't find a lot of info on it. Any thoughts?

Seems like a great price my local dealer was 15500 for that tub

Killer deal, you'll love it.

Try the Frog @Ease.  I've tried it, and I think it's okay.  I like it better than bromine.  For some reason, the water seems to get a little foamy whenever we are on that system.  It's probably just coincidence with our test soakers.  Nature 2 is my favorite if you aren't going salt.

Thanks.  Any thoughts on whether the @ease will be able to keep up with bather load - two young children will be using with us and they are dirty!  Is there any harm in shocking more frequently than once a month as directed by Frog?

killer deal, I've had customers/shoppers with Hot Spring brochures come through my store with prices in the 15-16.5k range written down for that model depending on options.

Congrats, consult with your dealer but in general you can shock more often and supplement with granular chlorine when you have especially heavy usage.

Prior to each use:
One teaspoon of Sodium Dichlor Chlorine.

Once a week: 3 teaspoons of Sodium Dichlor Chlorine.

Use a FreshStart prefilter (goes on end of garden hose) when filling spa.

Use a FreshWater silver ion purifier or Natures2 cartridge and change it at every fill.

Buy a Taylor K-2006 Test kit to check your water for Total Alkalinity, Calcium Hardness, pH and Available Chlorine (That should be in the 3- 5ppm range). You may need to buy chemicals to get the water balanced. Take notes on how much of each you needed to add, so the next time you fill you will have a good idea what is needed.

You can use test strips for day-to-day use. They are quick and easy and accurate enough for your Chlorine use.

Leave the cover open or, at the very least, half open when you shock the hot tub. This will prevent damage to the pillows and keep them under warranty.

Buy some filter cleaner and be careful with the ceramic filters. They are expensive and can crack if dropped on a hard surface.

If you didn't order the tub with Ozone, I suggest you call your dealer and add it to the build. That and the Silver ion cartridge will help oxidize contaminants such as deodorant, soap, perfume, etc. With the ceramic filter, Sodium Dichlor, Silver ion cartridge and Ozone generator, you'll have a first rate water care system.

Good luck with your new hot tub!

Thanks - this is helpful but meant to be an alternative to the @ease system - correct?
