Tannin benches leaching in hot tub

I have a plastic liner in my redwood hot tub due to a leak we could not stop.  But the benches are red cedar. The water becomes tea color after a few days.  We live in SOCAL and in a severe drought. Taking the water out every few days is not an option. Is there a product we can seal the wood benches so they do not leach? A resin.  Or fiberglass? Or are there chemicals one could use to clear up the brown water?  I have read some of your posts but I could not get a clear picture. Thank you for any information.

Seal, no. You could add a large amount of chlorine, 1 teaspoon per 250 gallons of water, twice a day, for 7 days. FOR SEVEN DAYS ONLY. This will help to bleach the tannins from the water AND from the wood.

HOWEVER, other than the aesthetics of the brown water, tannins are not harmful in ANY way. In fact, tannins are added to a lot of tea, and some wines, to give them more color.
